This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a STEM certified elementary school working on obtaining our STEAM certification this year. The Fine Arts are integrated into the daily curriculum so that students learn to solve problems using the Engineering method of problem solving and are able to express their solutions in terms they understand.
In the Visual Arts room, students learn how truly connected all of the learning disciplines are so that as they learn about a time in history, they also learn about the Science, Technology, Math, Engineering, Music, Art, Dance, Culture, and Literature at the same time to give context to the learning experience.
My Project
The 3D pens and materials will help students to visually portray their research findings in the form of a 3D sculpture. Three frades will participate: third graders will design and create Penguins, fourth graders will design and create sharks, and fifth graders will design and model an aquifer environment.
The models they will make with the 3D pens will not only teach them how to use cutting edge technology, but more importantly they will help students to visually present their understanding of the research they conducted in a 3-dimensional view, requiring them to be more observant and think deeply and critically about the subject.
