My Students
I teach 18 bubbling 4 and 5 year olds who are considered to be at-risk. In comparison to their counterparts, many of these children struggle with self-regulation and have more poorly developed social-emotional skills. As an early childhood educator for over 10 years, my desire is to be better equipped to teach these skills so that my students are more prepared to succeed in the classroom and beyond. As the diverse needs of my students continually change, I too must grow, adapt, and increase my capacity to meet their needs. My passion to teach is deeply interwoven into my passion to learn as well. Like my curious Pre-K children, I am always looking for an outlet for trying new things!
My Project
I am seeking materials that will help me to become even more prepared to meet the social-emotional needs of my students. To truly serve students who enter school with adverse circumstances ongoing training and professional development is a must. These materials will be very beneficial in making it possible for me to teach my little ones with excellence, honor, and wisdom. As an early childhood educator, I recognize the changing needs of students and their families. My desire is to build upon my knowledge base and strengthen my practice so that my students receive the best experiences possible in what is more than likely their very first classroom experience! Additionally, young students benefit tremendously from small group instruction, therefore; I am hoping for seating that will allow for 4-5 students to sit with their peers comfortably while engaging in lessons centered around small group instruction.
