it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our music program is dedicated to giving special needs students access to high quality music instruction. They are able to participate in the choir, band and orchestra programs. Our music inclusion class pairs special need students with regular students to proved meaningful experiences in music.
Our high school serves a population of 400 special need students.
Students with severe/profound cognitive disabilities or autism attend instructional classes with low teacher-student ratios. Community-based independent living skills are the focus of the curriculum. With the emphasis on social, communication, sensory, vocational, and academic skills.
Our music inclusion class is geared for our students with profound cognitive disabilities and recognizes that students with disabilities have the capacity to participate in music experiences at a variety of different levels of engagement. Each of these students is paired with a regular student and encouraged to participate in music learning at their own level of ability.
My Project
The materials that we are requesting are things that every music teacher would want to have in a music classroom. These tools range from electronic floor keyboards and percussion pads, to bells, chimes and rhythm instruments. Incorporating the use of these instruments will enhance the quality of learning of our special need students. The creative ways that these resources can be used in an inclusion class are endless. The real beauty of music education lies in the variety of learning opportunities that can be provided for all kinds of learners. The requested instruments will give our students an opportunity to experience learning through a variety of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities. Engaging our students in multiple ways will provide them with motivating, challenging, and age/developmentally appropriate music experiences.
Our music inclusion class makes a difference in the lives of our students.
Please help us as we seek to improve the quality of the kind of learning that our students will experience in the classroom. When our students experience music in meaningful ways we know that it has positive effects on learning in other areas of their lives.
