My students need items that will help them learn to button, fasten, or zip their clothing. With items like the button tree, fasten-ator and manual dexterity vests, they will be able to learn.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My classroom can house up to 12 special needs kids, ages 3-5. Their disabilities range and the severity varies. By the end of the year, we want them to gain some independence, rather it be requesting items or needs, or taking care of basic needs themselves.
I am in a public school that house Special Needs Pre-K through 5th grade.
Our school currently has about 600 students. The kids in my class can start when they turn three and we keep them until they are old enough to go to kindergarten. They are the sweetest, most deserving kids in the world. They may have many needs but they are the some of the smartest, kindest children I have ever known. They truly want to be like everyone else and many times, they don't see that they are not like them. We want to help them become more independent with their basic needs so that they can take care of basic health needs independently.
My Project
With the items we have requested they will begin to learn how to do these things. We requested trees that they can button on the leaves, various vests that will teach them to button, snap, and zip, as well as a variety objects to help with other skills such as lacing. If they can master these skills, they will be able to get dressed or use the potty independently!
If we are able to get these items, many doors will open up for our children.
They will be able to dress themselves, as well as, use the restroom independently! What an AMAZING feeling, to be a "big girl" or "big boy"!
