Stimulate the Whole Mind, Help Educate The Whole Child
My students need science supplies (glassware, kits, a vacuum pump, paper, etc.) plus lab workbooks and assessment tool-books to create a great lab-based classroom.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Bring my classroom into the 21st century. Currently, we are relying on pictures and diagrams to teach what research has proved is best understood through actual laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
Students at my school are from a Title 1 school district.
This means that most of them come from an area that has high unemployment, low family income, and they are very transient. These problems are magnified by the low parental involvement in the school system, the old school buildings, and small school budgets due to falling property taxes.
However, my students are willing to tackle the harder science classes even though the facilities and supplies are lacking. I want to teach my students a foundation of knowledge about science so that they are well prepared for jobs in the various scientific professional programs such as nursing, radiological technology, pharmacy, physical therapy, and engineering.
My Project
The requested supplies such as the test tubes and stirring bars will help to perform actual laboratory activities instead of reading about the process. My students will use the conductivity tester, iron and zinc electrodes, and copper plating kits to test the conductivity in a solution. We will be able to find the amount of nutrients, salts or impurities in various sources of water.
The vacuum pump will allow us to perform reactions without the presence of air such as the effects on water vapor in different atmospheric pressure or to explore the effect of pressure on the volume of an object. Finally, the workbooks will give my students multiple opportunities to practice the various science concepts such as the gas laws, stoichiometry, and solution chemistry along with providing material that I can use for scientific demonstrations each day in class.
There are many amazing laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and materials available.
We just need the resources to explore and develop a higher scientific knowledge base. Your donations to my project will help my students to have the proper background knowledge, laboratory experience, and skills necessary to become successful college students in science. You could be helping the next Charles Drew, Edward Jenner, or Ben Carson.
