Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Many of my students are from a low poverty neighborhood with very limited English language skills. Our wonderful school is an international school that offers both Italian and Spanish programs. The school is located in the heart of the city of Miami, Florida. Many students have the American Dream to succeed in their new environment.
Our class is made up of thriving 7-10 year olds from grades second through fourth.
"I ,finally, got it" were the most inspiring words this teacher has heard when that beautiful light clicks on, the learning connection begins, and the students success to learning begins from that day forward. This becomes a great feeling for all. This educator teaches a wide variety of students from gifted science/social studies, to fourth grade math, reading, and multi-level of English as a second language learners.
Our classroom lacks many tools that can make learning easier for all. Hands-on activities with magazines, computers with head phones, kid friendly readers, and many other educational materials the student would love to experience! We hope you can help us reach everyone's educational dreams!
My Project
My students need scholastic news magazines, multiple headphones, and one computer. Students will be using the Scholastic News Magazines to make connections with real life examples told by kid reporters.
As students read text based books, the magazines will allow them to make connections of real life community stories from around the world, do hands on activities provided in the resources, and use technology for extended outside research beyond the classroom.
Learning will now become more educational, hands-on, and extended to include the real world. Magazines will bring learning outside the four walls of a classroom, and the technology will be provide a useful skill that will lead to life long connection in learning! So please allow these kids to enter a world of learning they have never experienced!
