This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Lights, Camera, and ACTION! Those are the words my students want to hear. However, being a student in a rural school in central Alabama, my students may only hear those words on a video.
What's frustrating to teachers is having incredibly talented and creative students with no resources.
There are no outlets for students to create and or share their talents with others. Thus, students are not only limited or hindered by the socioeconomic environment of their home, but at their school as well.
My students are competitive and are not intimidated by new technology. It is because of their determination and willingness to start a Digital Arts Media program, at our school, that I am writing this grant.
My Project
In our Digital Arts Media program, students will learn how to master the latest computer technologies, as well as, how to use art elements, principles and images to communicate their ideas in a variety of visual/digital forms. Students will also learn how to work in teams to deliver a quality finished product by a deadline.
Students will be using the GO Pro camera and the other handheld devices to record interviews for a weekly news variety show.
The news show will highlight school events, as well as, local community groups. Our stakeholders will also be able to see our recorded news shows on our YouTube channel and school website.
As our program progresses, we will be able to partner with local community groups to highlight their programs and offer our services to help promote their events. Thus, Our Digital Media Arts program will create a positive “buzz” in the community and hopefully encourage other schools to start a program.
