The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is the 10th largest school district in the state of Georgia. The school district serves almost 38,000 students across 55 schools comprised of elementary, K-8, middle, and high schools. Chartered in 1866, the Board of Education celebrated 150 years in December of 2016. The District operates under a Board - Superintendent form of government and is composed of eight members elected from geographical districts and a President elected on a countywide basis.
