  • Seeing Virtual Learning Clearly with Document Camera !

    Funded Sep 8, 2020

Thank You so much for making this project possible. My second grade bilingual students greatly benefit from the document camera.

We use this tool so that the students are able to see documents better than holding a piece of paper up to the screen. I would normally use a Smart Board in the classroom, but during this pandemic, the document camera is a blessing to have. A document camera is a virtual essential for students receiving instruction remotely.

The document camera enhances the virtual learning experience. My lessons are more engaging, interactive, and memorable. While this could never replace in-person, one-on-one instruction, this allows for needed instruction to happen. It is important that students can see and hear the instruction clearly. It is important to continue to build learning partnerships, and this document camera checks the boxes. Students see instruction through the use of this document camera.”

  • Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Germ Free Classroom III

    Funded Feb 26, 2020

Wow, Hand Sanitizer, band aids, hand soap, wipes, and disinfectant spray. These supplies arrived just during this heightened alert with the spread of the Coronavirus. We have been spraying, wiping, washing and making sure we clean, sanitize, and are germ free as we prepare to learn each day. We have always taken precautions, but these supplies are a much welcomed and necesary resource to keep my students safe and healthy.

These materials ensure that our desks, hands, tables and chairs are clean and germ free. We have breakfast in the classroom first thing in the morning. We use these supplies to clean, sanitize, and maintain our room. The products not only help to clean and sanitize our work spaces, they will also help to cut down on germs!

These supplies ensure that as we begin each new day, we are clean, safe, germ free and ready to learn. Thank you so much for making this project possible.”

  • More Books to Enjoy

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

I am so thrilled and excited for my students. I can't wait to share the news with them that books are on their way! My students will be able to continue to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. None of this would of been possible without the generosity and selflessness of your donations.”

  • Creative Classroom Crafts

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

The students crave projects that involve hands-on activities, especially those involving markers, colored pencils, crayons, colorful paper and glue! My students now have the ability to look at the world from a different lens and this only enhances their creative minds. Having these materials provides them the opportunity to be as creative, imaginative, and as colorful as they want to be as they draw, write, and create in the classroom.

The students use these materials to enhance, and engage them as they write and illustrate stories, illustrate after reading a book, and create a response to a lesson. The possibilities are endless. We have created Friendship notes, valentine's Day cards, and social studies illustrations. The students love to use the curvy, zig zag, and swirly scissors to be as creative as they can be. Thank you so much for making sure we have the supplies we need to do engaging art projects and crafts in the classroom!”

  • Lending Me Another Literary World!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Reading is fundamental. Understanding the written word is one way that the mind grows. Teaching young children to read helps them develop their language, communication and vocabulary skills. My students and their families are now able to have access to books in Spanish and in English. The students love reading in class and they are now able to read at home with a loved one, in a comfortable home environment. The students love to pick put picks and are enthusiastic about their selections. Most love to pick out 1 book in Spanish and 1 in English. Parents have told me how great it is that their child is able to share reading a book with them at home. I look forward to enhanced vocabulary, language, and writing skills.

Thank you so much for making this possible.”

  • Data Keeps Me on Track !

    Funded Nov 17, 2019

Thank You so much for making this project possible.I want my students to become independent learners. We now have the necessary tools and resources to make them successful. Data binders are an effective tool to help students track their progress toward their learning goals. They will now be able to record their data and see their progress and/or need to adjust their goals. The data binders are also a great visual for parents and students during parent/student/ teacher conferences.

All these resources and materials will foster student independence and allow students to take accountability for their learning.

Thank You so much for making this possible.”

  • Math Game Central !!!

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you so much!!! The students now have a variety of math games to reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and other math skills during centers.

With these center activity resources, the students are actively engaged with each other as they increase their math skills. They use the strategies and skills taught and apply them while they work independently in math centers. The Math in a Flash! Discovery Cans are a hit with the students. They love working together to solve the math problems. The dice are also a favorite. We use them regularly to come up with numbers to solve addition and subtraction problems. The dice are so versatile and they make math more engaging when the students can just roll a number to work with.

Students need to be involved in their work in order to learn. These center activities reinforce what we are learning using different mediums to keep the students engaged while they practice skills and strategies in a fun way. These centers keep my students working on various math skills by reinforcing what we have learned while also teaching the students how to work together. Thank you so much!!!”

  • Let's Learn Financial Literacy !!!

    Funded May 13, 2019

Wow, my students are all excited about going into math centers. Many of my students come from varying countries and money is a different constant in their lives. Many do not know American currency or their value, so having the cash register, allowance games, and equivalency puzzles to interact with is so valuable. They can't wait for center time. The Allowance board game is a hit with all of the kiddos. They love that they can spend and earn money while playing the game; and I love that they are making sense of the value of each coin while learning about money and money concepts.

I am currently enjoying reading one of the financial literacy books "Teaching Financial Literacy Through Play (Teaching Through Games)" so that I can be better able to bring financial Literacy to my 2nd graders.

Thank you so much for making this project possible.”

  • I Am Multiplying Fun!

    Funded May 6, 2019

Words can't describe how excited the students were when we got the call from the main office that we had packages. We couldn't wait to open the boxes. The students couldn't wait for center time to explore the math games. The first games that the students explored were the tower games for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. A group of students decided to construct their tower using both the addition and subtraction tiles while still applying the same rules of the game. You will soon see their excitement in the pictures!

Having these resources, allows challenging concepts of multiplication, and division to be explored and reinforced in a non traditional way. What a great way to learn, practice, and reinforce math skills.

Students love to play games, and why not make learning math facts fun. The students are challenging each other to see who can get the most correct facts. I love that these games develop skills in operations & algebraic thinking, number & operations in base 10, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Having these games will transform math time and centers as students interact with each other and reinforce multiplication and other math skills.”

My students are inner city bilingual children that attend an urban school district in northern New Jersey. Although they are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status and their varying linguistic abilities, they enjoy coming to school everyday.I currently have a group of 20 bilingual second grade students in a dual language one way classroom. They are an energetic, inquisitive, and hard working group of students that have many challenges, but despite that they still come to school excited and ready to learn!
