  • Back to School

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thank you for your generous donations. This was a great activity/event to kick off the school year. Most students don't think about and/or can not afford the smaller details that are needed to make the year successful.

The students (and parents) were excited to attend and receive this as a gift as they prepare for the next level in their educational journeys. I cannot thank you and all the other community partners that made this opportunity possible with your continued support to the students in the Southwest Miami-Dade area.”

The added value is these type projects are a joyful and engaging way to teach and students to learn!

The students reaction when they first saw the materials was of appreciation. At this point of the year, students have exhausted many of the materials that they initially purchased for the class. • Digital Classroom

    Funded Dec 10, 2021

    THANK YOU!

In the midst of COVID-19, it has been challenging to motivate the students in the typical manner. Your donations have provided materials to allow us to incorporate technology in a traditional classroom setting. As teachers we try to maintain the continuity throughout the ever evolving changes by creating a digital classroom that can be accessible at home.

Your donations made it easier to maintain some sense of new normalcy. We are very appreciative of the opportunity that your donation has provided our classroom with.”

By working with students to create a process for them to organize their thinking, I will be able to teach study skills without “teaching” them. Processes build structure, and with use of left- and right-side pages, students will naturally organize their thoughts. Whether I do teacher input activities as a whole group or as a small group, student output activities give students the ability to show exactly where they are in their understanding of the subject. Student-teacher-parent interaction is built and strengthened with the use of interactive notebooks with the end results. When students are working on homework at home with their interactive notebooks, not only will students be able to use them, but parents will also be able to have a resource into the learning that is taking place in the classroom. To be successful and appeal to a variety of learning styles, many nontraditional resources are necessary. Interactive notebooks described above include lots of cutting, gluing, and coloring, but the biggest resource needed is organization. Beyond the ordinary colored paper, scissors, glue, items such as the cricut will save time in organizing materials and cutting out materials instrumental in constructing an interactive notebook. Beyond the classroom, these items will also assist as the students build school spirit in extracurricular activities.
