My students spend a great deal of time inside at home and at school. We have a large percentage of students who do not go outside when they get home. But when they come to my class, we are constantly moving, dancing and having fun. Physical Education is a guaranteed way for children to be active while in school. Their muscles and bones become stronger, weight is controlled and they have a better outlook on life. We need and would absolutely love new equipment that would help children become academically motivated, alert and successful. Physical competence builds self-esteem at every age and what better way than to start in Pre-K. Each piece of equipment will enhance a child's motor skills. Preschoolers need play and exercise to develop these important skills. Kicking or throwing a ball, playing tag or follow the leader, hopping on one foot, riding a trike or a bike, freeze dancing or running obstacle courses are all ways to keep a child active. I want to support my students' interests and when starting at such a young age, children will always participate and find any activity as normal. All children can be physically fit whether they are the non-athlete, the casual athlete or the athlete. Keeping a positive attitude will help each child stay active. I am asking for resources including one Everyday Songs & Activities Box, a Build-Your-Own Trike Course, a set of See-Inside Activity Balls and a set of Let’s Get Moving! Activity Mats. Please help us move to improve. My 180 students and I would greatly appreciate it and we can't wait to show you how active four year olds can be with the right equipment.
