    Funded Aug 28, 2022

It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give, toward "Supporting Stem"! With the awesome supplies, I was able to supply my students with stem items that will increase their leaving and cognitive abilities.

Thank you for your kind and generous donations! We are very appreciative!!””

  • Interact With American History

    Funded Jan 18, 2022

The students have really learned more about the American revolution from producing and acting out this play, than they ever could reading it in a book. They had fun researching costumes, collecting props, using the green screen, staging moves, etc. They are still singing the songs from the musical months later. I have many students that are very shy and I didn't think they would act at all, on the contrary, those students excelled and came out of their shell. I also have students that are low readers, yet they were were able to read lines and their confidence in reading grew.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Youngs

This classroom project was brought to life by Utah State Board of Education.
  • Hear and Record

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

We have had so much fun this year, 2021 and 2022 class, creating so many fun audio projects.

The students were able to express their ideas and thought on what they want to know, what they already know and what they had learned.

We were able to use padlet to create a collaboration of ideas and a collaborate as a classroom giving each student a voice. They also use flipgrid to create positive feedback to other's ideas and projects.

Most of all.....the students have been able to listen to all the programs and educational websites that teach our students.”

  • Chemical Changes are HOT!

    Funded Sep 22, 2021

My students were able to see how chemical reactions create heat. They used the scientific method to create a hypothesis on which solid and liquid when mixed would create the most heat. When their hypothesis failed, they would use the STEM model to learn.

The STEM process they learned followed these steps. Ask a Question, imagine ways to solve the problem, plan what they need to solve the problem, create a model, test your idea and determine if it worked. If not, how can they improve their model. The students had to use this process to find which chemical reaction was the hottest.”

  • Ecosystems All Around

    Funded Mar 21, 2021

The students had so much fun learning about ecosystems. They were able to create their own terrarium that the plants and fish had to work together to live. They learned that if the soil used had fertilizer in it, it would get into the water source and kill the fish.

They got to grow different types of plants and to see how changes in the environment can affect living things. We different wave colors of lights, no air, no water, clay soil, sandy soil and regular dirt to see how that would affect plants.

We got to finish out our unit by making tie dye shirts. This was to show that we can find ways on Earth to recycle, reduce and reuse. In turn, that will help the environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Youngs

  • Read It! Love It!

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

It was so fun to watch the students able to read so many more books on their level. Moving from 6th, down to 5th, I didn't have as many lower level books. This was a great opportunity to get some that will always be available in the classroom. They have access to them all year. They had more choices of books to choose from. This gave them the important the skill of choosing a book, even if it was to hard for them. I appreciate all those that donated to make our classroom a set of better readers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Youngs

  • Exercise Everyday

    Funded Feb 23, 2021

The students loved the sports equipment. They played and moved for 45 minutes straight. They were sad when they had to come in and get ready to go home.

Every piece of equipment was loved. They cooperated and played well together. They made up their own games and found ways to include everyone. It brought movement, creativity and love of competition together that helped bring everyone together.

They are excited to have new activities to do at recess and let all the students in every class play with them at recess.

What a great day it was to see all the students moving....and they didn't even realize it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Youngs

  • Conquering Science and Social Studies

    Funded Jan 29, 2019

Our students have enjoyed learning about History and Science through a colorful and engaging way. The pictures and information contained within are of high interest to the students. They love having another resource to look at.

We take notes in class and have discussions. These have helped supplement what we have discussed. They can look at examples and real life applications of concepts taught.

There are always interesting facts listed and the students love learning things like: Africa has the largest beetle, wind power can power cars, birds can change overtime to adapt to their environments.

I know that the students have been impacted and have been educational fulfilled by using these resources.”

  • Planetarium Experience

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation to our Donors Choose Project to take our students to the Planetarium. They have already studied the solar system, moon and seasons this year and will be provided more instruction about outer space and our place within the universe at the Planetarium. Many students have been excited by the depth of knowledge the universe contains. They are so excited to attend and have their current knowledge deepened in a way that we can not simulate in a classroom. We appreciate your support in helping the students understand the universe around them.”

  • Endless Possibilities with a Document Camera

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The new document camera is so amazing!. We are able to use math manipulative's together as a class and everyone can see! The students can show how the came to the answer they got. It gives me insight to see how they figured it out themselves.

We used it in Science to learn the phases of the moon. It was great to use it as a way to review and teach solar and lunar eclipses.

I've used it in art to show the next steps in the project.

I've used it in writing so we can do a class writing project. I have used it to teach grammar, editing and sentence correcting.

There are so many more ways to use the camera. I can't wait to find more ways. This has been a great gift that so many students will be able to use.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Youngs

By reading high quality, engaging and reading leveled books, students will learn to be strategic and independent readers. Students learn skills and strategies that will allow them to read difficult texts independently. Students receive more individualized teaching time. We will use these in guided reading groups that will help students develop as individual readers while, the teacher (myself) is available for support and scaffolding. Students will work in groups to present their character and the challenges they had to face. They will make various projects that will show how they were strategic in their reading and if they achieved the goal of becoming an independent reader.
