I hope to make my classroom a place in which students are active members of their learning. People learn best through the act of teaching and this document camera will provide a powerful way for students to show their work to their class and use their expertise to teach their classmates. Because the document camera is wireless and sturdy it can easily be moved to different student work spaces for impromptu student demonstrations. Additionally, because of the maneuverability of the camera, students will be able to showcase an intricate part of an engineering project or elaborate visually on their math thinking with manipulatives under the camera. I will also be able to ramp up my writing instruction by using the document camera to quickly and clearly share student writing exemplars. Additionally, by writing and editing under the document camera students will learn from each other and improve their writing skills in a powerful and meaningful way. Last, students will use the document camera to record mini lessons for their classmates. These mini lessons will be uploaded onto Google Classroom and will allow students to access a library of information anytime they need extra support. I will also be able to record mini lessons for students to watch from home. This will allow students to be fully prepared to engage in meaningful practice the next day at school.
