  • Building Dreams: A LEGO Adventure

    Funded Dec 17, 2024

From the bottom of my heart, my deepest gratitude for your incredible support of my Lego Spike Essential project for our makerspace. Your generosity has made a real difference in bringing this exciting learning opportunity to our students.

The Lego Spike Essential sets are more than just toys; they are powerful tools that foster creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. They will allow our students to engage in hands-on, project-based learning that connects science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts. Through building, coding, and experimenting, our students will develop essential skills they will carry with them throughout their academic journeys and beyond.

Thanks to your kindness, our makerspace will become a vibrant hub of innovation and discovery, where children can explore their passions, develop their talents, and build a strong foundation for future success. You have invested not just in Lego sets, but in the future of our students. Thank you, thank you!

Wishing you a joyful holiday season filled with love, warmth, happiness, and peace.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hu-Greig

    Funded Nov 4, 2024

I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to my Makerspace class. Your support has made it possible for me to get the Snap Circuits kits, which will provide my students with a hands-on learning experience in electronics and engineering.

With your help, we're fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and a love for STEM. Your contribution will have a lasting impact on our students and their future endeavors.

Thank you again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hu-Greig

  • Destination Innovation: Explore, Tinker, and Create!

    Funded Sep 4, 2022

Much thanks for helping to fund this project to get our Makerspace set up. A well-stocked makerspace corner can be a hub of creativity and innovation. Our 2/3 Dual Language students loved using these storage bins and craft supplies for their projects.

The combination of diverse craft supplies and organized storage solutions, like Storex letter size flat storage organizer bins, significantly enhance the overall experience and productivity of my students when using these supplies and materials to create.

This new school year, we have our own Makerspace room in the school and these Storex storage bins and assorted craft supplies such as the dot markers, rubber bands and paper clips now have a new home!

The colorful flat storage bins will continue to provide a convenient way for our K to 5th grade students to store and access supplies, keeping our new makerspace room tidy and efficient. The craft supplies will come in handy as well to help spark new ideas for creation and experimentation.

Thank you again for your kind support and help!”

  • Learning Chinese Food Culture and Calligraphy This Lunar New Year!

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

Much thanks for your generous donations and support for this schoolwide project. My students in the 2nd and 3rd grade Dual Language Mandarin classes learned about history of chopsticks, as well as calligraphy.

They went to the other non Dual Language classes in the school to share and teach their peers what they learned. Children in our school learned how to use the chopsticks and they had fun trying to use the chopsticks to pick up their snacks.

Students also tried using the brush to do Chinese calligraphy and wrote lucky wishes on red papers to give to their friends, family and teachers to hang up on the walls to usher in good luck for the new year.

And of course, everyone enjoyed the yummy fortune cookies! A lot of fun and laughter and well wishes learning all about Chinese New Year and culture.

All these would not be possible without wonderful donors like you on DonorsChoose. Thank you, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hu-Greig

  • Snap, Click! Animating With Stikbots & Legos!

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations! My students are going to enjoy making stop motion animations! This project will be one of the things students remember learning about in school. Instead of just showing my students animation videos they will see and take part in the creating process. I can't wait to bring this project to my classroom for my students - thanks to all of you! Again, thank you!”

  • Gamification With Nintendo Switches

    Funded Sep 27, 2023

Much thanks for helping us with this Nintendo project. Our children really loved playing with the Nintendo switches. I've started using these with our 3rd through 5th grade students during our Technology Club on Thursdays during our lunch period, as well as during my technology period.

During Tech Club, the children eat lunch with me and then after, we started creating using the Nintendo Labo kit. It was a big hit!

So far, we've created a cardboard piano, a little RC artsy robot and in the process of creating a house, all from cardboards and they worked! Children were having so much fun playing with these cardboard toys and programming it using Nintendo switches.

My students also tried creating their own Nintendo games using Super Mario Maker II and Game Builder Garage. We talked about the history of Nintendo games as well. I am hoping these Nintendo sessions will spark an interest in these kids in learning more about coding and programming and engineering.

I am looking to get more educational Nintendo games (Math games) to be used with these Nintendo switches in my technology classroom as an option for choice time when the children finish their tasks.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity and support in making learning fun for our children!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hu-Greig

  • Our Kids Are All Write

    Funded Nov 22, 2022

Thank you so much for helping to fund my project. My students will be so thrilled. Having these supplies will allow them to begin making their own comics as soon as the supplies arrive. I can barely wait to see their faces when they pull the blank comic books and sketchbooks out of the boxes. They will be over the moon with excitement. Much thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!”

Thank you for your kind support and help! It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for your donation to my project. The tools that you have funded will enable my students to engage in learning how to use these 3D pens to create their social studies projects. I know my students are incredibly excited about this. They love to make new creations, and I know they will be so thrilled to be able to use these 3D pens. Thank you once more for your generosity. We can't wait to begin! Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!”

We need four Chromebooks to go on educational websites and to research information. These Chromebooks will allow my students to share, collaborate and research for information, as well as to explore educational websites to expand their imagination. Most of my students do not have a computer at home and do not know how to use a computer. If this project gets funded, my students will have a chance to learn how to blog, how to surf the net safely for information, how to create a video using the Google apps. Most of my students are also learning a second language and or a foreign language (Mandarin), and they can use the Chromebooks to access learning apps and educational sites such as Readingatoz.com, Brainpopjr, Google Drive/Google Classroom etc to learn, create, share and build knowledge with their peers.
