  • Back To School Supplies!

    Funded Jul 27, 2020

Thank you so much for all your generous donations. We are three weeks into the school year and it has been a journey for all of us. Unfortunately I am not really able to post any photos of the kiddos using the items as we are currently going to school virtually. I however can share the amazing things that the supplies have already brought to the classroom. I was super excited to receive the pencil boxes, I was able to fill each pencil box with supplies to give to each of the students. If you could see the kiddos excitement when the receive the pencil box. It was all thanks to all your donations that I was able to bring those smiles to the students. The other supplies have provided myself and the students amazing resources that has given us a smooth start to the school year. Thank you so much again.”

  • Help My Students Become Amazing Readers

    Funded Feb 14, 2020

Our packages started coming in one by one and maybe every 1 hour. We must have received a total of 5 boxes today filled with all of our wonderful books. When I opened the first box I was so excited because I already knew what it was. I looked over to my class and said "hey class guys what, we have a bunch of brand new amazing books". They all cheered in excitement as I was one by one reading them the titles of each of the books. The next box came during math centers. I was looking down when I hear "Ms. Velasquez other box, is it more books" The entire class stops and cant wait for me to open the box and show them what books where in that books. This continued every hour, it truly felt like Christmas. I can not thank you, this books have my students so excited to read. This time of the school year they have gone through most of the books in my library. So this is the perfect time to get them motivated on wanting to read more exciting books. I can not thank you enough, It truly means a lot.”

I wish you guys could have seen and heard the excitement when I opened the packages filled with books. Its is really such an emotional and breath taking taking experience to be a part of. It is such an amazing thing how books can bring so much happiness and joy to a child. My 2nd graders are so close to leaving me in just a few months. They have been preparing themselves for 3rd grade. In this transitional phase they have been loving reading chapter books. It's new for them that there are not any photos In chapter books. Going from reading those lovely Pete the Cat books to exploring the world of Junie B. Jones. My library is currently not filled with any complete sets of series. You guys were able to provide them with complete series where they are now able to understand and explore the world of Junie B. Jones or Dog Man to the fullest. I have a group of boys who are very competitive when it comes to P.E. and recess games they decide to make up. I have never seen these boys sit down and not talk about who is always beating who at soccer. Today it brought me happiness when I saw all these group of boys reading a book from the Dog Man collection. That is one of the photos I have posted you will have to check it out. During clean up time they were having some sort of book club and for once were engaging themselves in a conversation about books. I want to Thank you so much, you have really made a difference in my classroom. This time of year is always rough as they start to lose motivation. It truly means a lot to be able to provide to my class books that will keep them engaged and still motivated.”

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! It means so much to me and my students to have such amazing support. My students were so excited to find new and exciting books to read. The smiles and excitement on their faces were just priceless. I had several students who have been reading nonstop. They have been coming in every morning wanting to have DEAR time just to read any new book they have yet to read. I love their excitement and the love they have for wanting to read more. I can not express enough how much this donation has impacted our classroom. Thank you once again.”

I am a 2nd grade teacher in a high needs, low income, Title I school. Our students are primarily English Language Learners. Our school is 70% ELL and 100% free lunch/breakfast for all students. I have an incredible group of 26 students who have so much potential in them. Each and every one of my students have gained a place in my heart, they're such kindhearted, noble, and passionate individuals.Every day these students walk into the classroom eager to learn and ready to face any challenge that's put in front of them. These kids spend long hours at school every day and yet, every single day they're excited to be here and ready to take on whatever is put in front of them. It truly amazes me how determined and dedicated these young minds of theirs are.
