This robotics kit will be a lot of fun to use as an extra-curricular program and perhaps change the trajectory of my students' lives economically and socially. Attending school in an urban setting has its challenges and in spite of that my students' show up ready to learn, with a smile. Many of my students' dream of becoming professional ballplayers and that reality covers about nine out of 10,000 eligible seniors nationwide. A career in technology or computer science is more realistic and a robotics program such as this is a great introduction into these disciplines. By donating to our project, my students will get practical hands-on experience in designing and programming robots, and you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students' will design and build programmable robots using high-quality motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles, and other technical components. My plan is to use this robotics kit as an extra curriculum activity initially. Eventually, I would like to build this program into the curriculum as an engineering component of a STEM. By using this robotics program students' will gain a better understanding of how the technology works in real-world applications. The EV3 core kit enables students to understand and interpret two-dimensional drawings to create three-dimensional models; build, test troubleshoot and revise designs to improve robot performance. This program includes using mathematical concepts such as estimating and measuring distance, time, and speed.
