Young Musicians in Need of Guitars
Funded Nov 7, 2022Your donation to purchase new guitars allowed every student to have an instrument during class. They were so happy when they opened the boxes and found the new instruments. Each one with its own guitar case and all. Of course, they tried it immediately afterwards. They sound amazing!
As a result of not having to share instruments, students now have the opportunity to practice in small groups and their behavior has improved as well as all of them are busy learning. Our rehearsals are running smoothly now as those students who were falling behind are catching up.
Thank you for all you do for our students. We are all so grateful for your help. Our music program could not grow without your generosity.”

A Soundboard to Play Live Concerts
Funded Dec 1, 2021Thank you so much for allowing us to get a new sound board for our performances. So far we have been using it to rehearse in the classroom and to play live music for all our students with our school's rock ensemble. It has been specially beneficial to level the sound of our singers. They are new to performing in a group setting and are still working on vocal projection. The mixing board allows me to level all the tracks so I can hear everyone equally.
The sound board allows us to get a cleaner, better sound as a group, and now our students are willing to work extra hard. They are very motivated thanks to you.
We couldn't have done it without you.”

Funded Nov 18, 2021The bass and amp have been a true blessing. Our bass players have been taking turns taking the instrument home to practice and as a result they have gotten better at the instrument and our band sounds much better.
Something else that has been wonderful to see is the initiative these bass players have had ever since they've had the tools to practice. Now they are learning new songs on their own, and are learning how to improve their technique watching YouTube videos from home.
It's very rewarding to see how students can excel given the opportunities for growth.
Thank you so much for your kindness and for allowing our music program to continue growing. We will take great care of the bass and amp so many students can benefit in the future.”

Amazing Little Musicians in Need of Xylophones!
Funded Sep 23, 2021I was teaching a second grade class when the boxes arrived. My students were so excited when they unboxed their shiny, brand new xylophones! There were smiles, giggles, bright eyes, and a bunch of hands reaching in to touch the wooden bars and mallets. One student said he'd never seen such a beautiful instrument ever. It was a happy chaos for a little while until I was able to unwrap every mallet and set every bar on the wooden frame. Then students took turns playing the instruments while improvising and coming up with their own patterns. The happiness of experiencing these instruments was shared by all the other classes. It was truly a wonderful week.
Our students are currently working on various holiday songs using these beautiful instruments. Our students in the intellectual disabilities group are learning how to play Jingle Bells and Snowflake and plan to perform during the holiday concert next month. They are truly excited and so are their classroom teachers. These students don't always have the opportunity to perform for others, so this is a truly special occasion for them.
We couldn't have done this without your help. We are so very grateful for your support! We hope you have an amazing holiday season with your loved ones. On behalf of all my students, thank you!”

Funded May 16, 2019Our "Let's Play the Xylohone" Project did not turn out as expected. The vendor did not have the xylophones we were requesting and we had to choose another product. Since we are a Title 1 school and our students don't have the means to purchase instruments I decided to order recorders for all students in fourth and fifth grade. We were able to get more than 200 recorders with the money raised, and after assigning an instrument to each student we still have enough for our new fourth graders next year. As you can see in the photos they've been busy practicing the notes and learning the recorder positions.
We can't thank you enough! Your donation has been a blessing! I hope you continue supporting the arts one way or another. Your love and support is the fuel that keeps teachers like me motivated.”

Funded Oct 20, 2018I truly can't thank you enough for your contributions towards our music program. The students were so thrilled to see the music stands! They were commenting how now they can jump right into playing the instruments rather than spending another 15 minutes assembling the old, rusty folding stands we were using. Some of the fifth graders were mentioning how the new music stands made them feel like real musicians. They're even practicing more now! Not to mention they all want to be in charge of placing the stands at the beginning of class and putting them back when we're done.
The recorder set we'll start using next Friday with the school's newest music ensemble - The Fienberg-Fisher Early Music Recorder Ensemble. The kids have been auditioning on their soprano recorders to be a part of the group, and that means they've been practicing more which is fantastic!
The Finale Print Music software was installed yesterday and I know I'll be using it every day, especially now that I have to write arrangements for the new recorder ensemble. It is a great tool that allows me to make music worksheets for students of all levels and musical compositions and arrangements that can't be found elsewhere for purchase.
The big writing pads have been a tremendous help. I write the rhythm and pitch letter to the pieces we're working on for them to read. This helps create a shortcut to note reading for my Special Education and Behavioral Emotional Disorder students. These kids are truly special and need a lot of patience and support. They can do anything they set their minds to, but require a little extra help, which now I'm able to provide thanks to your donation.
The love and kindness you've bestowed upon our music program has really improved the quality of lessons and the attitude of all students towards the subject of music. We want you to know you've really made a difference in our lives.”
