I teach a K-4th Grade Special Day Class and I began a 4-6th grade after-school Photography Club at our school. Our school is located in a low-income community in South Central Los Angeles. Every day, my students remind me of why I have chosen this career. Growing up, I had one teacher who took a special interest in me and made me absolutely love school. I too want to be that teacher for my students. My students' eagerness to explore inspires me to push them even further.
I strive to teach them to get an early start with leaving good lasting impressions, demonstrating responsible behavior, getting involved with school activities, learning technology, and using descriptive language to describe photographs. We are now on our second year of photography club and our program continues to be strong. The students love being creative, taking photographs, photo editing and creating PowerPoints.
