We need six dash robots and an iPad to begin their unit on coding. The dash robots and the iPad will help them bring coding to life. Having the Dot and Dash will provide my students to experience what coding is about. The students will work in groups to create a code and will see the excitement of Dot and Dash move in action. Their planning and trial and error will help them increase their problem solving skills and allow them to go back and fix things that they might have done wrong.
These materials will enhance my students problem solving, visual and spatial aspects of coding, computational thinking, cooperative play, teamwork, patience, resilience, persistence and taking risks.
Most importantly, these materials will provide the students with early programming skills. It would also plant a seed on different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) carriers they could possibly choose when they get older!
