Energizing Young Minds with Snacks!
Funded Sep 19, 2024On behalf of our Highline Academy Highline team and students, thank you for donating and helping fund my project. The snacks have significantly impacted our classroom environment. By providing a variety of snacks, I've addressed a fundamental need for my students, ensuring they have the energy to learn and thrive during the school day. Many of my students come from low-income families and often arrive hungry, so having these snacks available has transformed our mornings and afternoons. We've integrated snack breaks into our schedule, making them a time to pause, recharge, and refocus. This has also created opportunities for meaningful conversations about healthy eating habits and sharing with others, fostering a sense of community in our classroom.
When the students first saw the snacks, their excitement was priceless. For some, seeing their favorite treats was a simple joy, while others expressed relief knowing they wouldn't have to wait until lunch or home to eat. This immediate positivity translated into better focus and participation throughout the day. With this support, I've accomplished more academically and socially. Students are less distracted by hunger, more engaged in lessons, and better able to collaborate with their peers. The materials provided have allowed me to create a more equitable and nurturing learning environment, ensuring all students have the necessary resources to succeed.”

Funded Apr 18, 2024I am writing to express our deepest gratitude for your generous donation towards our project aimed at acquiring various educational games for our Multi-Language Education (MLE) program. Your support is instrumental in helping us create a positive and inclusive environment where our students can thrive both academically and socially.
These educational games are more than just fun activities; they are valuable tools that promote language development, collaboration, and cultural understanding. By integrating these engaging resources into our curriculum, we are able to help our students build confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and form meaningful connections with their peers.
Your contribution significantly enhanced the educational experience of our students, empowering them to reach their full potential. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to supporting education and fostering a welcoming community for all.
Thank you once again for your generosity and for making a lasting impact on the lives of our Multi-Language Learners.”

Funded Sep 21, 2023My students have been using their language acquisition skills through games thanks to you all!!!
In my (Multi-Language Education=MLE) class, students earn "gems" to fill in their 100% jar. To earn these gems students have to follow certain expectations, in my class, as a group (100%). If they do not follow the expectations, gems can be taken away, however they are given the opportunity to win them back. As the gems reach to the top of the jar, they can enjoy a "100% day" at the end of every month.
This "incentive strategy" helps students commit to their goals, be responsible and take ownership of their own behaviors and learning as well as their peers.
They also help each other stay on task and complete their work.
My kids work hard every day, not only to follow these expectations but also achieve academic growth in listening, speaking, reading and writing in the English language while still honoring their home language. This is one of the reasons I love teaching these students and I'm 100% proud of them.
The games were available for their "100% day" in November. Their faces lit up with excitement and happiness. They used their communication and social skills/conversations learned in class and applied them with their peers. Some students have never played with Jenga nor Connect 4. Others have never touched Play-Dough. The few expectations to follow are to handle games with care, to take turns, share, communicate with purpose and needs and to have fun. Seeing them enjoy themselves was the highlight of the month! Thanks to you all, it's the best day of the month for my students.
My next step is to continue to add games, puzzles, manipulatives and crafts to my classroom environment Also, continue to create opportunities in the classroom so my students can continue to use their acquired language with confidence. My main goal is to be able to take them on a field trip to the Zoo or Aquarium before the school year is over!
I'm very grateful for your help. Please continue to donate to other teachers and myself. Every donation goes a long way!”

Funded Aug 3, 2022I want to excuse myself for writing to you a bit late. My new role as a Multi-Language Educator (MLE) has taken up ALL my time. I had to take 2 courses and one on one coaching. Having said that, your donations have helped my students take ownership of their learning, they have been able to practice their handwriting skills and they have gained confidence as they share their work. The story sets that were donated were used to have them re-create the story in their own language. They have been doing an amazing job in acquiring the English language and applying vocabulary learned to improve their skills in listening, writing, reading and speaking skills. When we return in January they will be getting ready for their ACCESS ("Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners") test. Your donations have been helping them practice for the test and encourage them to be successful. Thank you, thank you , thank you!! Please continue to donate and help in my fruture projects!”

Funded Mar 29, 2022Thanks to your donations my students had an amazing time while learning new skills. They had so much fun using the manipulatives and games that we acquired. Even my students that were usually never engaged in the class and students that are differentiated learners had the opportunity to learn and master the skills that they thought they could have never learned. This project helped them be encouraged and gain confidence when it comes to math skills. Their smiles after they were able to problem solve and get answers right were priceless.
Thank you! I hope you continue to fund my future projects and help other teachers as well.”

All About the Weather
Funded May 28, 2021My students and I greatly appreciate your donation of all the Science materials that had to do about the weather. They were filled with new learning experiences as they were able to use measuring tools to know more about the wind, how much rain can fall, temperature and were able to predict the weather. Their faces could light a while coliseum.
They were also able to learn and explore about the types of clouds. Students were able to create different kinds clouds using the cotton balls.
Over all the students had a blast.
And what is most imortant is that more students will be able to enjoy the same learning experiences becuase most of the equipment is reusable.
Thank you so much!”
