I Want to Read a Book!
Funded Jun 17, 2013Thank you for your donation of books. Your thoughts of helping teachers like myself has increased our abilities to teach, and the students' willingness to learn. Your donations are the beginning of my first classroom library.
My students were extremely excite and could not wait to look at the books. When the students saw the new beautiful books with colorful covers they were excited and curious. My students are learning about Health Education and becoming Health Advocates. Nutrition, food safety, family health are just some of the topics they will focus on. The books are used with my lessons, classwork, and homework and for enjoyment. My students are learning to "Pass It Forward" and to have Empathy for others just like you. They are becoming more aware of their healthy, caring more for family, as well as the community. Some of these books will be used during our community project this year.
I had the opportunity to read the book," Miss Nelson is Missing," to my second grade class. It is about a class who misbehaves [mental and emotional health] and my students were able to compare their behaviors with the class in the book. It feels so good to know that I am able to give my students the best academically.
I appreciate every book ever received and when my co-workers visiting my classroom and see the books, some asked if they could donate a book too. There can never be enough books in a library.
Knowledge is power and every book we received reinforces this goal.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Henderson
