On an average year, I have about 22 students. My classroom often includes non-limited English proficiency students, bilingual students (Spanish as their first language), newcomers from Mexico, special education students, dyslexic students, 504 students, behavioral Intervention students, and Gifted and Talented students.
I treat all my students fairly and I have very high expectations for each and everyone of them. I love how diverse my classroom is.
This year, I had a newcomer from Mexico. He didn't speak a drop of English. His parents called me the first week of school extreme concerned because they feared his language would hinder his success. Needless to say, after targeting vocabulary and giving him the opportunity to use the English language in class discussions as well as many other interventions, he was reading, speaking, and writing in an advanced level of English.
About my class
