  • Award Winning TOON Books

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. Thanks to you my students have a wide variety of amazing book to chose from. They loved to read in partner groups and shared and exchange summaries of the different stories. They were amazed by all the comic sections and illustrations in the books. It made reading so entertaining and engaging. Students also took books home. They were able to share the these stories with their parents and siblings. Thank you so much for your generous donation. You made all my students so happy.”

  • Financial Literacy Rocks!

    Funded Jan 14, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation and your kindness. Thanks to you, every student in my class has their very own headphones. These headphones help all students greatly, but most off, it helps students that have special learning needs. Students can gain vocabulary from listening to read along books. They can also use educational software that helps them learn phonics and decoding skills. In addition, many of my students have accommodations such as oral administration, and these headphones help them maximize that additional assistance while also minimizing distractions. I can't thank you all enough.”

  • Tools to Maximize Students' Learning Time

    Funded Jan 11, 2022

Thank you all so much for your kindness and donations. Thanks to you, my second graders can maximize learning and instruction time. The organizers help them know exactly where their supplies are located when needed and they make everything easily visible to them. The wireless keyboard and mouse have made my class extra engaging since they can use them to play in teams and at the comfort of their own desk. This also helps them maintain a safe distance while still having fun. Thanks again for our amazing supplies.”

  • Racial Equity and Diversity Unit for 2nd Grade!

    Funded Dec 24, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations. These books have helped my students tremendously. Thanks to donors like you, my students now have a wide variety of books that appeal to their interest and promote racial equity and diversity.

Some of their favorite books were "It's OK to be different", "Chicano Jr's Mexican Adventure", and "Just Ask! : Be Brave". Thank you giving my amazing second graders the opportunity to read and learn about how their differences make them unique and how we should value and respect each other.

Students can use these books in paired reading and during independent reading time. Thank you so much!”

  • Basic Items to Each Their Own!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

I can't thank you enough for your donations. These supplies have greatly impacted the students in my classroom. My second graders have individual supplies to help them learn and grow academically.

My students are so excited to have their very own board and dry erase markers as well as Kleenex and writing paper.

We have used the board daily to show our math strategies and solve word problems. Having these boards helps keep my students social distanced, and I am able constantly and quickly to assess their learning and reteach to those that are struggling.”

  • Inhale Confidence, Exhale Doubt

    Funded Sep 10, 2021

Thank you so much for giving my amazing second graders an air purifier for our classroom. I was so happy to see my students' face when they opened the package. I hope their excitement was captivated in the photographs even though they are wearing masks. A great majority of them have allergies and asthma, and I have noticed that very few students have missed school during the past weeks. In addition, this air purifier helps give them peace of mind and comfort and it is used daily. Thank you so much from the bottom on my heart.”

  • Second Graders Love Financial Literacy!

    Funded Aug 28, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation. I can't thank you enough. These manipulatives will greatly impact my students' learning. Most of my second grade students have been virtual learners since kindergarten. This means that many of them lack concrete learning experiences that are required in order to understand an abstract skill. Having these manipulatives will definitely help close learning gaps.

My littles were beyond ecstatic when we used the bills and coins to solve financial literacy word problems. Some of the students commented that they felt like adults shopping at the grocery store, not to mention how engaged and attentive they were. Nothing compares to the smile on their faces when they opened up the packages and pulled out the Financial Literacy Kit. I really hope my pictures capture their excitement.

We will continue using these resources for our "My Budget" and "Saving, Spending, and Donating" units. I hope one they they remember that you so kindly donated to a group of second grade strangers that are eager to learn, and that they too pay it forward.”

  • Financial Literacy Game Day

    Funded Oct 19, 2018

I can't begin to explain how much these games have helped my students. When they use these games, there is so much communication happening. I hear students helping each other(peer tutoring) and learning as they play. The best part is, they don't even know they are "working"! They are using academic language and using terms like purchase, allowance, spending, etc. All the terms that would have otherwise taken longer to learn had we not gotten these resources. Having all of these games and manipulatives makes their learning much more concrete. It is incredible to see how excited they are getting. Thank you so much for donating to our class.”

  • Till Your Good is Better, and Your Better is Best!

    Funded Sep 24, 2018

Thank you so much for your very generous contribution. My students are now more motivated, eager to learn, and to try to do the best they can. I can see a very huge difference in class participation and that is all thanks to the resources that you have so kindly donated. My students are working harder on their Accelerated Reader points, because they have small incentives that motivate them. These incentives help create small short term goals that are realistic and attainable by all my students, even those who struggle the most academically. Thank you again for making all this possible.”

  • Math Makes Your Life Add Up

    Funded Sep 23, 2018

Thank you so much for your very generous contribution. It was such an amazing feeling to watch my students open up the boxes with the resources that you so kindly provided. My students were so excited while opening the boxes and even more so when they walked in and saw that they each had a board and an eraser all to themselves. The smiles on their faces were priceless. My students are loving their new dry erase boards. Everyday they are more excited when math time comes around and I can tell they are more eager and motivated to learn. Now during a lesson, I can quickly assess my students and I can determine which one of them needs more individualized instruction. I can't begin to explain how much these boards will help my student. I will be using them for small group instruction, multiplication, 3 digit regrouping, rounding, division, and so many more skills. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Berlanga

On an average year, I have about 22 students. My classroom often includes non-limited English proficiency students, bilingual students (Spanish as their first language), newcomers from Mexico, special education students, dyslexic students, 504 students, behavioral Intervention students, and Gifted and Talented students. I treat all my students fairly and I have very high expectations for each and everyone of them. I love how diverse my classroom is. This year, I had a newcomer from Mexico. He didn't speak a drop of English. His parents called me the first week of school extreme concerned because they feared his language would hinder his success. Needless to say, after targeting vocabulary and giving him the opportunity to use the English language in class discussions as well as many other interventions, he was reading, speaking, and writing in an advanced level of English.
