  • Adventureland LEGO Makerspace

    Funded Nov 15, 2023

We love our Lego kits! Thank you! We are excited to start our Lego Room Adventureland journey.

The benefits of the Lego were to help improve spatial awareness, fine motor skills, and perseverance. Children will continue to learn how to follow directions and plan their creations. They will also develop perseverance, creativity, and self-esteem while improving their attention span as they build and rebuild their creations.

When the students first saw the Lego kits they were excited but when they were able to build their Lego creations their expressions melted my heart!!

Using the Lego kits encouraged the students creativity because it provides an endless canvas for our students to work with. The students love to assemble and build with LEGOs and combining them together is a great way to encourage story-telling, problem-solving and develop perseverance. You may be surprised to discover that many kids already have a box full of unassembled pieces from previous LEGO sets. By using these to create something new and add editions, our students are beginning to see their successes.

Hope to share more pictures and projects along the way. Again thank you for helping bring this project to a reality!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sabini-Sberna

  • A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Visualization Supports Science!

    Funded Sep 7, 2021

Thank you for giving the students the opportunity to be able to help visualize science experiments, (STEAM) and the elements of comprehension and understanding of our experiments. Also, by allowing the students to engage in their peers work. I will be able to use the picture cards for each of the experiments in our STEAM program. Pre-teaching the vocabulary will help them understand the concepts being taught in each unit especially for our ELL learners, students with disabilities, and with the experiments. This will also give them opportunities for discussion . Thank you for helping me make a difference.”

  • Full STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Sep 21, 2021

Thank you for the Mobile STEAM Station kits. These supplies/kits will be utilized for stations where it will allow my students to have an organized workspace where they can focus on solving STEAM challenges with all their tools at hand. Our students love STEAM! I can't stop visualizing their excitement on their faces each time we meet to only find out that our STEAM station is growing just like their enthusiasm! This allows more differentiation and choice for students to be challenged during activities. My lessons will now let me involve a lot of creativity, problem solving, and collaboration thanks to you, donors.

Finally, I'd like to express my appreciation once again for your generosity and contributions, in support of my student's academic advancement. This truly couldn't be done without YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sabini-Sberna

Thank you for the anchor chart, pencils, post-its, sharpener, and dry erase markers. They were very much needed in my classroom and will serve greatly in helping improve the student's engagement so that they can really enjoy the rich content, be able to utilize the anchor charts, and be able to leave comments that aid their learning of science concepts. Finally, I'd like to express my appreciation once again for your generosity and contributions, in support of my student's academic advancement."”

My students need tennis rackets and tennis balls to start a morning program which will benefit in attendance, socialization, equity and empathy. "Life is like a game of tennis; the player who serves well seldom loses." -author unknown I am excited to teach twenty 1st to 5th grade students every morning during the week each morning accommodating the needs to each individual student. They are inquisitive, enthusiastic, full of energy, and love being outdoors. I'm looking forward to challenging them this second half of the school year. My students attend a Title 1 school in a low income area where many children are faced with many different obstacles and need this to keep them on the right path. Coming to school is important and starting their morning is the right direction is “KEY.”
