  • Furnish Flexible Seating

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your support in providing flexible seating for our classroom. Your generosity has allowed our learning space to be a welcoming and inviting place for all learners to explore, create, and have fun. The addition of the fuzzy cozy chair, couch, and table with chairs is something the students look forward to each week. Students get the opportunity to choose the seating that best suits their learning and behavioral needs.

Without your thoughtfulness and kindness, I wouldn't be able to create a learning space that values students and motivates them to do their best. 5th grade is all about independence and agency. These new seating options encourage students to take ownership and build independence. Thank you so much for believing in the vision and investing in the students of NYC. There aren't enough "thank yous" to show our gratitude for the impact your donation has made in our daily classroom community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Classroom Comfort With Cozy Couch

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude for your generous donation, which has brought an incredible sense of comfort and warmth to our classroom environment.

Your thoughtful contribution, which funded the cozy couch in our classroom, has made a significant difference in the way my students experience their learning space. The moment they saw the new addition, their faces lit up with joy and excitement. The couch has quickly become a beloved centerpiece in our room, a place where students gather to collaborate, share stories, and, of course, dive into the world of learning.

The impact of this cozy couch extends beyond its physical presence. It has created a welcoming atmosphere that encourages our students to engage actively in their studies and fosters a sense of community within our classroom. It's amazing to see how this simple piece of furniture has transformed our learning environment into a place of comfort, creativity, and camaraderie.

Your generosity has enriched the lives of my students and has made their educational journey more enjoyable and fulfilling. You've not only provided them with a comfortable place to learn but have also shown them the importance of kindness and generosity, which are invaluable life lessons.

Once again, thank you for your incredible generosity and belief in the power of education. Your support has made a world of difference, and we are immensely grateful for your kindness.”

  • Magic Carpet Learning

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation, which has had a tremendous impact on my students and their learning environment.

Your kind contribution of a carpet for our reading area has transformed our classroom in more ways than I could have imagined. The moment I unrolled the carpet and the children saw it, their eyes lit up with excitement. It has become the heart of our classroom, a place where imagination takes flight, and lifelong love for reading is nurtured.

The carpet not only adds a cozy and inviting atmosphere to our classroom but also provides a comfortable space for my students to gather and immerse themselves in the world of books. Their engagement during reading time has increased significantly, and their enthusiasm for reading has soared to new heights. Your donation has made learning an adventure, and I cannot thank you enough for that.

Your generosity has not only benefited our current students but will continue to impact countless children for years to come and has made a tangible difference in the lives of my students. We are deeply grateful for your kindness.”

  • A Classroom Organized for Learning Matters

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity and support of my students and our classroom.

The students were impressed with the storage case for their cell phones. It ensures their phones are safe and secure in the classroom. The paper organizer is used daily along with the cell phone case to keep students organized and structured. Students are able to get papers and forms they need without waiting for teacher assistance. In addition, the clear bins are used every day as well for students to turn in work.

These resources and materials are part of our every day class routine. We are extremely grateful for the donations of such wonderful people like you that continue to invest in our young people.”

  • Let's Get Flexible with Seating!

    Funded Oct 22, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting my vision to create a welcoming and inviting space for my students. Although, the Covid mandates and protocols in schools have limited use of some of the materials, I am hopeful that in the near future we will return to buzzing classrooms with students huddled together to solve problems, buddy reading, and small group work.

Students love the stools and saucer chair so much. It just adds another layer of comfortability and variety to the room. Students that get tired of sitting in the traditional chair can get a stool or cozy up in the saucer chair.

I know the students would've loved the futon, but due to social distancing I wasn't able to set it up this year.

I want all supporters to know that your donation is being put to good use every day. The materials are being used each day in the classroom to make our classroom a home away from home.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Document Camera for Distance Learning and Beyond!

    Funded Oct 23, 2020

Thank you so much for the document camera. It has been so helpful in showing students explicit reading and writing instruction. I can put sections/parts of the book under the document camera to model annotating the text. In addition, writing is a difficult subject to teach and even more so remotely. The document camera makes it easy for the students to see me model writing in real-time. This technology is helping me meet the goal of ensuring my students are progressing as readers and writers.

The most exciting part about the document camera is it allows students to feel like they are in a classroom. They are able to watch on the screen how to make arts/crafts or read a section of text together. It is helping to create a class community which is important during this time when students may feel isolated and alone.

I am so thankful to all the donors that gave to this project. It has made such a difference in my ELA instruction remotely and it is a tool that I will use when we get back to in-person teaching as well.”

  • Light & Sound Lead to Better Learning

    Funded Aug 23, 2020

I cannot express fully in words how grateful I am for the lights and microphone in this project. It truly has made such a huge impact on my ability to create professional-grade videos and live video sessions that keep my students engaged. I use these items every single day to teach remotely. I can't imagine what my remote instruction would look like without these resources.

My students enjoy my creative, virtual backgrounds using the green-screen. I enjoy making educational videos for students and their families to help support learning at home. Lighting and sound are extremely important when creating visual content for students. The clearer and crisper the image and sound it helps to keep students engaged.

I am so thankful to all the donors that supported this project. It truly has made an impact on my teaching and the learning of my students now and for years to come.”

  • Out of This World Classroom Environment

    Funded Aug 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation to help me make an inviting classroom environment for my students. School is our home away from home. The goal is to make the space comfortable and welcoming to all students. The students loved the purple carpet. Even though they are 5th graders, they love coming to the carpet because it is so soft. The students enjoy the pillows as they add just the right amount of charm and coziness to nestle up with a good book.

I spend time on my physical environment because I want positive, uplifting and inspirational messages to be sent to my students. I want them to know they are welcomed here. Also, this communicates to my students that they matter and I care about them. I think carefully about colors, color schemes, decorations, and desk arrangement. I ponder over the decisions knowing the impact on student learning.

I am grateful for the support of strangers to help support this teacher's goal to provide a safe, welcoming atmosphere where everyone is accepted and cared for.”

  • Complete Comprehension for All!

    Funded Sep 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping to improve and strengthen comprehension for all readers in my classroom. Reading is so important and the number one indicator and predictor of academic student achievement. This kit has allowed me to get to know and understand my students as readers on an individual, group and whole-class level. The comprehension kit provides me with the tools and resources I need in order to teach, assess, and evaluate students.

My co-teacher and I were super excited when the kits arrived. We are using the resources to help support some of our neediest and most challenging readers. It has helped us streamline the support in a manageable way that can be tracked and adjusted based on student results. In order to get familiar with the resource, I decided to use the kit on a one to one basis first. One of my students during independent reading was very distracted, had difficulty picking "just-right" books, and often times didn't use this time wisely. Now, we have selected a "just-right" book with guided prompts that help keep her accountable and for the first time, she is really engaged in her book. We are excited to see the impact this will have on the rest of our students.”

  • Pump Up the Volume!

    Funded Aug 16, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. The QBall is instrumental in supporting the work being done around academic discourse and engagement. This device helps all students to know their voice matters and deserves to be heard. It helps to provide equity of voice, in addition to supporting kinesthetic learners.

Students were confused and had no idea what it was at first. Once, I modeled how to use it the students were enthusiastic and couldn't wait to participate. Some of my quieter students who talk really low have an opportunity to be heard. It encourages everyone to take part in class discussions and to actively listen.

The goal is to use the QBall in different discussion structures like Socratic Seminar and to have the students take full ownership of using the QBall in class. It will help with class presentations by keeping students focused and engaged because they can actually hear their peers clearly. This is another great way to motivate and engage all students to take an active part in learning, in addition to having fun.”
