  • Literature Review Books

    Funded Feb 3, 2017

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your donations to my class. The donations bought the library new books for our Literature Review Buckets. A variety of differentiated books are kept in our Literature Review Buckets. Each table has a different bucket. They rotate each week. The books in the Literature Review Buckets are updated throughout the year. The students review the books while waiting for their turn to check out a library book. We added some popular and trendy books to our Literature Review Buckets with your donations.

When the boxes arrived, we gathered on the carpet to open them. Each box contained a variety of books. I had a few students select their favorite books from the box to display in our pictures.

Thank you for donating to my students and helping to improve our library. The addition of our new books for our Literature Review Buckets has been a hot topic this week. Students have been so excited to read these new books and can't wait for the next rotation of books to come to their tables.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Frazier

They are made of very durable hard plastic with three divided sections. Each table

Thank you for donating to my students and helping to improve our library. The

addition of our Literature Review Buckets has given us a very organized way to

  • Chromebook Craze

    Funded Dec 30, 2016

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your donations to my students. The donations bought our library a Chromebook laptop. We use it every day in a variety of different ways. I have taught the students how to independently locate books in the library using the online card catalog. Our card catalog has an animated version called Kidzviz that the students love. It has a main character named Vizzie who helps you locate books by topics. The use of our Chromebook laptop has given the students another computer to search for books.

Our school system has a subscription to Encyclopedia Britannica Online. We use the Encyclopedia Britannica Online to research topics. They have wonderful graphics that can be used in projects. The Encyclopedia Britannica Online is broken up into three groups based on grades. We use the elementary level the most, but sometimes we move on to the middles school level for additional information. There is a special section called Britannica Learning Zone just for students in grades Kindergarten to second. The Chromebook laptop has helped get more students on Encyclopedia Britannica Online.

The donations you gave to our class have made our library a more high tech classroom full of opportunities to search for the information we need. Thank you for your support and donations.”

  • Frogs Hop, Dance, and Read Too!!!

    Funded Nov 29, 2016

Thank you for your donations to my students. You're continued support to public education is what makes the difference. My students and I appreciate you supporting our project and helping us reach our goal.

My students were so excited to see the new rug. Frogs really do like to Hop, Dance, and Read too!!! We like to incorporate physical activity into the literature stories that we read. When characters are active in our book, we reenact their activities. Since getting the new rug, my students have enjoyed hopping, dancing, and reading new books.

The bright colorful rug has created a very inviting place in the library. It is one of the student's favorite places to read and reenact stories. The frogs floating on the carpet reading the books have really amused the younger students. Several of them have asked do frogs really read? My answer was is frogs like to Hop, Dance, and Read too!!!”

  • Bookworms Love to Move!

    Funded Sep 16, 2016

The students and I would like to thank you for supporting our project. Bookworms really do like to move. We have been able to add so much activity to our literature time. The uses of the bells and maracas have accompanied many of our stories these past few months. The students actively reenacted movements from books using their scarves and ribbons.

The Seals on the Bus big book set with puppets has been a favorite with my younger students. They have used the shakers and beanbags to actively re-create the story. After reading the book, we use the puppets to retell the story.

We appreciate your donations and support of public education. You have improved our library by making my students active while appreciating literature. Thank you again for helping us reach our goal.”

  • Yoga in the Class Keeps Everyone on Task

    Funded Aug 22, 2015

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your donations to my class. The donations bought our class a variety of yoga books and DVDs. We have been using these materials to help our class relax and stay on task. We often take a quick Yoga Break when transitioning from one subject to another.

Our supplies came in a big box from Amazon.com. The students and I gathered on the carpet and make predictions about what we thought was box contained. A lot of my students do not know anything about yoga. A few students shared that their moms go to yoga. We are all not practicing yoga during our school day. Thank you for your support and donations.”

  • We Always Have Time for an iPad Mini Lesson

    Funded Aug 22, 2015

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your donations to my class. The donations bought our class an iPad Mini. We use it every day in a variety of different ways. We have apps to reinforce skills, listen to online textbooks, connect to the Internet to do research, and watch informational videos.

The iPad Mini has added more flexibility to our academic choice portion of the day. Students are given the opportunity to choose what academic activity they want to complete during this time. The iPad Mini is a popular choice due to all the apps we have added.

Students often share with one another about fun apps they have discovered. The Telling Time App has been one of the most popular. It has strengthened many students' time telling skills. Students have worked to learn more information about the 50 states with the Stacking States App.

The donations you gave to our class have made our classroom a High Tech Classroom. Thank you for your support and donations.”

  • Hands-On Social Studies

    Funded Aug 25, 2014

Thank you for your donations to my class. Your donations provided my students with new Social Studies Centers. The centers focus on American symbols, continents and oceans, cultures, economics, and landforms. These are all skills that I teach at different times throughout the year. The hands-on learning centers allow the students to work in each content area before it is introduced during class and review after the unit has been taught.

When the box came we gathered on the carpet to make predictions about what we thought was inside the box. Once everyone had an opportunity to guess what was inside the box we opened it. Students were so excited to have new Social Studies Centers. Several days this year we have had to stay inside during recess due to weather. The Social Studies Centers are one of the activities the children always want to do during inside recess.

Each Social Studies Center has different games and activities focused on the subject area. The students work in a small group of two, three, or four to complete each activity. Each center has different activities that keep the children engaged and active in their learning. Thank you for your donation and support.”
