Dare to Imagine
Funded May 13, 2019Attending the Tennessee Association of School Librarians Conference in Murfreesboro, Tennessee was a fabulous experience. It was a three day conference filled with authors, librarians, and vendors. The conference gave me the opportunity to network with other elementary librarians, meet authors of books that I love to read to my students, and learn new ideas. Sharing ideas with other librarians has helped add to the library program at my school. The workshops I attended gave me numerous ideas of how I can add more research skills and hands-on learning to daily library activities.
One of the highlights from the conference was getting to meet Derrick Barnes. He is the author of Crown an Ode to the Fresh Cut and The King of Kindergarten. Derrick shared his stories of when his own children started Kindergarten and had pictures of those special days. I will definitely share The King of Kindergarten with my students soon.
I have recently started implementing Learning Stations in the library. I have received almost all of the station materials from DonorsChoose. I attended a session about organizing library learning stations and another one on coding in the library. Because of your donations that allowed me to attend the conference, I now have many amazing ideas about adding new library stations to the rotations.
I appreciate all the donations I received to go to this conference. The school I teach at does not have funding for out of town professional development. Donations like yours are the only way I am able to attend the Tennessee Association of School Librarians Conference.”

Funded Jul 11, 2019During our weekly library visits the students get to rotate to a variety of learning stations. The station supplies you helped purchase have been wonderful. The student's directions are neatly placed in the Dry Erase Pockets. The card stock has been used for the students to create bookmarks. Our illustration station now has wonderful brightly colored markers. All illustrations are traced with the black flair pens. Your donations have made it possible to keep our stations running smoothly for another year.
When the boxes arrived I had my next class open them. The students and I were so excited. They knew the supplies were for our Library Learning Stations.
Our next step is to add more hands-on learning to our stations. We are always looking for a new way to keep our students learning more and reading daily. The coordination of books and hands-on learning in our Library Learning Stations has added new excitement to our weekly library visits. Thank you for giving to my students and supporting our library.”

Funded Mar 1, 2019I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your donations to my students and our library. The donations bought our library new floor chairs. They use these as part of our flexible seating. The students and the adults who visit the library often say they would love to have a comfy floor chair at home to use when they read. We have two lime green and two bright blue floor chairs that coordinate with our library theme.
Due to your generosity my students can now read and relax anywhere in the library in a nice comfy chair with a back. I appreciate you supporting my students and adding resources to our library.”

Graphic Artists in the Making
Funded Oct 1, 2018We would like to thank you for giving to our project and supporting our library. Your donations have allowed my students to create their own illustrations. Dog Man, Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Pinkalicious, and the Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly are a few of my student's favorite books. These visual aids have assisted students in creating their own personal illustrations during illustration center time. The new box of crayons has enough crayons for us to work on our illustrations for the rest of this year. We are excited to add so many wonderful resources to our library. Thank you for your donation.”
