  • English 2 Literature Course

    Funded Aug 16, 2021

It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give to my project! With the literature, books, and the technology to read the books, the students have gained a better understanding of the diverse cultures in our country, as well as appreciate their own culture more. It has been a positive influence that they have access to everyday and the students are building and developing a respect and understanding of their cultures.

Having access to multicultural literature has empowered my students to have positive attitudes towards diversity and tolerance, and that it is okay for others to be different from what they are used to! That is priceless in the world we live in today. They will one day be respectful and character minded citizens of this world, that have sensitivity and tolerance for all people.

Again, thank you for your donation. Our students' faces lit up when the supplies arrived!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peeples

I have requested a class set of "Sula" to be primarily used for a novel study for my 11th-grade students. We will discuss the elements of a story (plot, theme, characters) and be able to have access to authentic African American literature. The rigor of the novel will help students increase reading stamina and thinking skills. "Sula" also opens up the opportunity for many cross-curricular activities. By having access to this novel, students will be able to deepen their understanding across content areas. Your donation to this project will help support my students and myself on our quest to become better readers, citizens, and thinkers. We can't learn to read if we don't have the books, and having reading material where students can identify with the characters is CRUCIAL!
