Tablets For Houston Students In Need

Funded Sep 14, 2020

Today as you went about your normal day, without your knowledge, one of my 6th grade students was painting while listening to music and quietly singing along to a song playing on a tablet that you provided him. Today as you went about your normal day, without your knowledge, a middle school girl in Houston, (who had enough self-image issues to deal with before having to wear an embarrassing mask and dealing with foggy glasses), practiced a new eyeliner technique that she learned from watching a makeup tutorial video on a tablet that you provided her. And today as you went about your normal day, without your knowledge, a Houston art teacher felt good about herself because of a dream that you provided her.

I want to thank you on behalf of each and every one of my 102 students and their families for the gift only you could give. I want you to take a moment and acknowledge the fact that you made a child's life better today. And you not only made any child's life better, you made an economically disadvantaged child's life better. Your tablets were greatly appreciated by not only my students but their parents as well. Many of my students' parents speak Spanish as their first language, so I had to use Google Translate to text those particular families. I got many responses that included the words "Dios te bendiga" which means "God bless you", (which was typically followed by multiple "prayer hands" and angel emojis)! My students and their families had a better day today because of you, without your knowledge as you went about your normal day.

Tomorrow as you go about your normal day, please know, a student will be participating in school because of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me reach a goal no one thought I would reach and for giving me the means to bless my children with the best gift of all - their education.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Woodin
