🚴Bike Safety for School Club & Commuters 🚴
Funded Nov 2, 2024Thank you so much for helping to fund our project. These bike lights will make our students safer as the days grow shorter and our bike rides darker.
We have to tune brakes, shifters and derailleurs before most rides. The bike stand you helped pay for will make this much less frustrating, save us time and give our students a better way to observe and make adjustments on their own.
We’ve cut several rides short because we were low on water. The bottles and cages you helped to buy will be so appreciated.
We’re always scrambling for an extra helmet. Thank you for helping to purchase these.
Their squeaky chains will appreciate the chain lubricant you bought us.
Our students will genuinely benefit from ALL of these items you have so generously helped to fund. Thank you!”

Mr. Watson
Kinesthetic Math Fluency - An Engaging Manipulative to Build Confidence
Funded Nov 16, 2022Our number wrap-ups have been a helpful staple in our fluency drills. They make an easy station for me to setup and my students love using them. They carefully wrap the strings, connecting their number facts and then excitedly check to see if their strings line-up with the keys on the back.
Many parents have taken them home to let their students practice on their own. Some parents have even ordered a set for themselves.
Thank you for donating the money for our wrap-ups, they are so appreciated!”

Math Outside!
Funded Sep 23, 2021My students LOVE taking our chairs and clipboards outside for class. We have had class outside at least once per week since receiving them. They genuinely look forward to it (and so do I).
Our community circles and math workstations have run great and we'll definitely be able to keep doing them in the park across the street and on our school grounds. Students were literally sprinting the 20 yards between workstations (unprompted).
Such a great upgrade for our class experience, thank you sincerely for making it happen!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Watson
This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 13 other donors.3D Technology In Math for Inner-City Classroom
Funded Aug 8, 2014Thank you all for you generosity. Your donations purchased our students three Android tablets and three sturdy cases that really allows them to be used freely in class. The students love using them! They have used them to make video recordings of each other working and explaining math problems. They have used them with the "Augmented Reality" app, that lets them see problems in three dimensions. They've used them as white boards to work-out problems as the rest of the class views it being worked on our "Smart Board".
Recently students did workstations in class where they practiced adding and subtracting integers. At one station students viewed 'video-problems' I pre-recorded, filled with mistakes; students played-back the videos, watching for mistakes and then correcting them. They recorded each other working problems at their desks and explained their logic. Students scanned QR codes at the last station, unlocking 3D math problems for them to solve on their tablet.
Teachers and administrators have come to observe my students using the tablets ... and the have been 'wowed'! The students really do engage with the technology in a way that just doesn't happen with pencil and paper. The students have a deeper, more lasting understanding of the content when we use the tablets and it's made the year more fun. Thank you for giving to this project!”
