  • More Distance Learning Materials Needed 911

    Funded May 5, 2020

Among the hardest things I had to do during this time aside from being away from my students and teaching in my classroom, was to adapt my curriculum materials. Math and science are meant to be interactive.

We made it work as much as possible. The material I procured through Teachers-Pay-Teachers was great. I was able to find assignments that were interactive (via the Internet). My students used the Google Classroom platform. We used Google Forms and Slides to present the material and to turn in the work.

Thank you for your kind donation that helped us during these trying times.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero-Crespo

  • Math Tools and Bags for Distance Learning From Home

    Funded May 7, 2020

The best feeling, one that has been very rewarding, was when I was able to deliver the resources to my students. It wasn't just because I was able to give them the much-needed items to continue the teacher-and-learning in such a difficult and unprecedented time.

In order to provide them with the resources from a previous project that was funded as well as these resources, I am used the reusable bags. Their goodies were packaged and delivered allowing them to see how invested you are in their success.

The six hours spent driving around the city and delivering the resources were all worth my time as well as my family's. My grandchildren equaled it to the night before Christmas as Santa is delivering gifts to all children.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero-Crespo

  • COVID-19 Will Not Quarantine Our Learning

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you for making this project come to life. Many of my students have family and friends that have come down with the virus, but have recovered.

My students needed reasons to be motivated. The snacks, the lapboards, and markers and the other resources were delivered to their homes. I drove around the city for six hours. It was so gratifying seeing my students' faces.

The materials were put to use immediately. Some took pictures of themselves saying thank you and the following Tuesday, we used it in our first lesson in angle measurement.

Gracias... un millón de gracias por su generosidad.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero-Crespo

  • Markers, Pencils, Cards, and Cubes

    Funded Mar 9, 2020

Thank you for helping make my classroom stay well-stocked all year round.

Classroom supplies run out faster than I can replace them. So having a stocked classroom of basic supplies will provide the necessary tools and resources to support our learning community for a longer time.

Thank you for helping my students have basic classroom needs met with supplies. My students and I are very grateful on a daily basis for your generosity that brings into our class the materials we need. Because what is a math classroom without markers, tape, and math manipulatives? It is one that is missing basic classroom supplies.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero-Crespo

  • Let Us Investigate a Pandemic Invasion

    Funded Aug 7, 2019

We are just beginning to implement this unit "Outbreak Alert!: Engineering a Pandemic Response." It is very timely as we are seeing what is going on in the world with the COVID-19. My students watch the news every day in their Humanities class and because it is a hot topic, they are enthused about the work that they are embarking on.

Last fall, they were engaged in another engineering project regarding extreme weather. Their goal was to create a prototype that would solve the human impact an extreme weather event can cause. I witnessed my students engaging authentically in their projects. I am convinced that they will be equally engaged as they work together to engineer a solution to a biomedical engineering challenge.

Thank you for supporting my STEM students. Your donations are making this possible.”

    With gratitude,

  • Markers, Pencils and More

    Funded Feb 5, 2020

Thank you so much for your kindness. We are excited to have a project that will be used on a daily basis in my classroom.

Having these supplies (color markers, dry-erase markers, color pencils, erasers, glue) in our room throughout the year and enough for all of my students will make the year easier for both the students and me.

I find it hard to ask parents to replenish the supplies mid-year. I feel that my students and their families already have too much on their plate. Your kind generosity alleviates the hardships.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero-Crespo

  • A Is for Apple - iPad and TV That Is!

    Funded Jan 21, 2020

My plan is to begin to replace the iPads we have in our classroom. Ours are outdated. Some of the applications we use in class are not supported by the first generation iPad minis we currently have. The iPad we received through this project is the first of many we will be getting. The other resources we asked for will really improve the quality of my students' work. The Apple TV is being used to connect our iPads to the projector. This will make things easier. Instead of connecting a computer to the projector, we can log in to our Google accounts on the iPads and present their work to the class. Thanks a million for your kind donations that has made this possible.”

  • More Chromebooks for Our Classroom

    Funded Jan 21, 2020

"More Chromebooks for Our Classroom" is a project that means so much to my students. This project impacts the lives of my students in that our students will have an opportunity to work with technology exclusively in the classroom! Not only in the classroom, but at home.

While many of my students have access to technology at home, some do not. I had a couple of students who were waiting for the new Chromebooks. The minute they found out that they arrived they went to work opening the boxes. We are grateful for your kindness.”

  • Hear Ye! Here Me!

    Funded Dec 22, 2019

Part of our day is spent working in independent technology math stations. During technology station time, students work on online programs that require them to use headphones. My students needed their headphones replaced. Having headphones has allowed all of my students to work independently during math station rotations.

These headphones have been making a difference in my classroom! While headphones are very necessary for all students, my students will not have to worry about disrupting the learning of other students.

Thank you so much for your generous donation that has made this possible.”

  • Math Games and Hands-on Activities for Math Stations

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

As we approach the halfway mark of our school calendar and less than four months before our MCAS (high-stake state exam), the resources ordered through TeachersPayTeachers are coming in handy. The math stations' purpose is to provide students with hands-on activities that will allow them to practice and keep up with the skills we have studied. In order to have my middle schoolers engage in my daily activities, I have to make learning like a game. Creating this type of environment for my students in my classroom will help everyone focus on math. Thank you for supporting my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Marrero-Crespo
