Low Tech Games for High Tech Kids
Funded Jan 25, 2016Thank you so much for the funds to purchase these games. I now am able to reward my students with fun, learning opportunities. The kids were SO excited to play the games... it almost felt like they were tricking me. I got to play with the kids and realized they didn't know how to play scrabble! So we had to back track it a little bit.
Unfortunately, most of my students don't have the same treasure trove of games like I did when I was a kid. They have never had a family game night.... or even a school game day. With these games, I'm able to give essential memories to my students.
Endless thanks!”

Graphic Novels for Fanboys and Fangirls
Funded Aug 11, 2015Thank you so much for your donation. My struggling readers need the connection of images to text. With your donation, I bought all graphic novels across all genres. Students now can read classics like "The Odyssey" and soon to be classics like "Persephone" with the elevated text of the original and the beautiful images which accompany it.
I have seen the immediate impact of graphic novels in my classroom. Students now are able to translate their thinking into their own graphic novel. There is not a unit in my class that doesn't include drawing images from text. Not only does this promote creativity, it translates to closer reading of texts.... something we all want!”

iPods Needed For Special Education Students
Funded Jun 12, 2014Thanks so much for giving to my classroom iPods! My audio learners now have an easy way to plug into their tests, audio books and everything else. My students are accustomed to having everything accessible on audio and video. Old school books are quite the conundrum. These iPods help bridge the generations and allows students to access materials previously outdated.
My Special Education students are happy to have the discreet way to listen to their tests. Instead of feeling odd or out of places, they easily get to stay in the classroom and listen to their recorded materials.
Thanks again!”

Graphic Novels for 7th Graders!
Funded Sep 6, 2014These books are the hottest item in the whole school. I have children I've never met come up to me and ask to borrow our books! I actually barely even see our new books as they've been off the shelf and in hands since they arrived. They are some of the most beautiful books I've ever seen (which is saying something). I'm already researching what to get next. Keeping new books (amazing books) in my students hands is my biggest priority as a teacher. I simply LOVE seeing them reading and talking about their graphic novels.
Thank you all so much!”

Read, Baby, Read 2
Funded Jan 21, 2014Thank you so much for these materials! My students anxiously awaited these shipments and quickly check the books out. I picked great graphic novel and a couple sets of the "Divergent" series which were quickly gone!
With little access to a library, my students don't get new books very often. We don't have a library on campus so the acquisition of new books is solely on me. For the 2nd time this year, I've hand selected the newest and most exciting titles for my students. Thankfully for y'all it hasn't been all of out my pocket.
We greatly appreciate your gifts!”

Read, Baby, Read
Funded Sep 19, 2013Thank you so much for you donation for my classroom. It has made a major a difference in my most reluctant readers. As you can see, my series books are completely empty. The children created waiting lists to get in line for the next hottest read. As a literacy teacher, I'm constantly trying to get the newest and most exciting materials in their hands. With your assistance, my students now have the complete "Hunger Games," "Harry Potter," and "Divergent" and even more. It's been so successful I started a second project for even more books!
Thanks again! Your help has made major differences in my classroom!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wight
