  • Switching Into Testing Mode

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

My kids were thrilled to get the switches. We actually use one as a December reward and another as an April reward. In both cases, kids worked their bum bums off to make sure the switch was theirs.

I'm confident that the kids worked extra hard to pass their STAAR End of Course exam that is also a graduation requirement. I'm also confident that they wanted that switch. What's even cuter is kids who already had switches were ready and willing to share games and help the new switches get set-up. Overall, it was a kind and rewarding thing to see as a teacher.

Thank you for supporting my students and me time and time again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wight

  • Whiteboards and Rewards!

    Funded Dec 15, 2021

Our whiteboards were such a hit! I gave the whiteboards to 2 of you top performing teachers. They immediately began using the in their classes. These teacher are already have the top data in the district, and now they are able to make their classes even better.

They were so PUMPED to get these white boards. On top of being a teacher favorite, kids LOVE whiteboards. For some reason, kids are easily fooled that math on a white board is better than math on white paper. BUT WHATEVER!!! We will take it as a win.

Thank you so much for supporting my students and teachers!!!!”

  • STAAR Preparation Reward!

    Funded Oct 29, 2021

Thank you so much for my STAAR rewards!

In my re-tester class, I had 7 of my 25 kids pass. This is a huge number considering they worked to pass a test they had previously failed...sometimes multiple times.

For many kids, the STAAR End of Course exams are hard and demoralizing. Especially for my class that is 100% Special Education or Emerging Bilingual, the tests can be extra daunting and difficult.

STAAR rewards turned a regular classroom requirement into a fun time with something GREAT to work for.

    Thank you!”

  • Headphones for 1:1 Classroom

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you so much for providing a class set of headphones for my students. When students returned last October, we were completly 1:1 on our computers. Students did not have headphones and were unable to full engage in all our new, fancy, technology. Now, more than ever, are we able to provide students an individualized educational plan based on their own strengths and weaknesses. Having headphones allows students to have the lesson read to them, watch a recorded lesson at a later time, or listen to a text recording. All of these are now options with headphones.

    Thank you!!!”

  • Funky Fun Erasers and Pencils

    Funded Aug 19, 2019

My kids simply loved these little erasers. I chose food, space ships, animals, and other cute random toys. I would drop these off at kid's desks when they had showed effort or gotten something right. Some kids were able to start a decent collection of cute erasers.

Little tokens of gratitude were greatly appreciated and kids worked harder when they knew they would be rewarded for their work. It doesn't take much but a little sticker, eraser, or fun pencil often pushes kids to go an extra mile and work a little harder.

Thank you for always supporting my classroom.”

  • AirPods for Class Rewards

    Funded Apr 2, 2019

Texas created high stakes testing many, many years ago. STAAR tests determine whether students advance to the next year, attend summer school, and ultimately graduate. Much stress and hard work come when preparing for these tests. My students are behind, under served, and in many cases struggling to catch up. They've been playing catch up their whole lives. And they've been tested their whole lives.

Your donation encouraged students to get prepared for these STAAR tests. They did practice after practice for weeks. They read passages, took notes, answered questions and took more notes. The winners had over a hundred points...... they answered over a 100 questions correctly to win these AirPods.

Thank you for supporting my students. Thank you for supporting me.”

  • Reading Rewards

    Funded Oct 2, 2017

Thank you so much for your donations! My reading students love having the cute trinkets for reading rewards. Student use the funky book marks to keep the page in their book club novels. Students are reading more than ever and enjoy keeping up on their pages.

Students also received cute pencils and bracelets that declared their love for reading. One would think that high school students are too cool for little gifts and rewards but they are not! They greatly enjoyed showing off their rewards and trading for different book marks and magnets.”

  • Growth Mindset Materials for Low Readers

    Funded Sep 1, 2017

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom! Our 80 year old building is soon to be torn down. When we move to our temporary buildings, they will need much new decoration to feel like home. We will be in our temporary buildings for 2 years. The kids are going to have a big adjustment come the new year. Our new decorations will encourage growth and help cozy up our new rooms. We are excited for our new home but know that it will be a big adjustment to us after our break. Again, your support for my kids and me has been endless and I'm very appreciative.”

  • Board Game Club

    Funded Jun 7, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for funding this special project. With these materials, I am founding the Liberation Board Game Club.

My kids have little no experience with board games. They are not familiar with the classics and in many cases, I taught them to play checkers. The board games in this project are all strategy based and require teamwork and higher level thinking. These are my exact goals for my students this year!

This project means so much to my students and me.

    Many thanks,”

  • Dictionaries (and Games) for Kids

    Funded Mar 12, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for your donation.

In 7th grade, my students are testing in Reading and Writing. While some schools have separate teachers for these classes, I am the lone teacher of both with one class period. We have to work double time to be ready for our state assessments. On these assessments, students are allowed to use dictionaries. Our school dictionaries were in various states of disrepair and most were older than my kids!

My kids come to me at various levels and with various income backgrounds. One way I can help level the playing field for my under served kids is to make sure they have the same academic tools as children in the upper income bracket. Your donation funded a classroom set of brand new, top of the line dictionaries. These beauties are handled with care and are my pride and joy.

Thank you so much for your donation and your continued support for my kids and me.”

My students are the definition of high needs. In our school, 80% receive free/reduced lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have grown up in the same traditionally Hispanic neighborhood as their grandparents, and haven't ventured much further than our city limits. Others are brand new to our country and trying to find their place. With our wide cultural range, we spend much of our time learning about each other and the characters we read in our texts. There's so much to share and learn just among ourselves.
