A Class of Scientists
Funded Oct 30, 2023I can't thank you enough for you generous support of my 3rd grade classroom! The kids benefit by all of these supplies so much more than you know. The TPT gift card allows me to keep adding and modifying lessons, so each year isn't identical. Nobody wants a cookie cutter teacher. In addition to the gift card, I received amazing magnetic dry erase binder paper posters. Those have been a game changer for teaching formatting for writing, and also, just teaching them how to use binder paper.
The safety goggles haven't been used yet, but the kids will LOVE them when I break them out for the hands on experiment I have planned for next week. Additionally, I received amazing resources in the form of books and workbooks that my students have enjoyed. "The Lazy Schwa" was as cute as I expected and the kids really enjoyed learning about Schwas while reading it. I know I received so much more, but I'll spare you having to read more. Please just know how grateful my class and I are, for the ongoing support of the DonorsChoose community. Our classroom would look a whole lot different without the generous support of donors like you!”

Funded Jul 10, 2023Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for contributing to our classroom upgrades! The flexible, seating and bouncy bands are amazing for our fidgety kiddos who just need a little bit more movement. And while our rug is not necessarily a necessity, the kids have loved laying across it to read their books. Another extremely popular item has been the skin colored crayons. The ability to properly represent themselves in their artwork is hugely important to my class. Now everybody feels like they belong in the room 5 family, regardless of what they look like, and the color of their skin.
Another addition, the Macy, my bit outdated, but has come in handy so many times already is the DVD player. I have amazing music, videos, and movies that go along with our curriculum and enhance the experience of learning for these kids. Now we can listen to music notes online anytime we want! The smaller items such as the blacktop tape has kept our desks in their appropriate locations by marking where they go on the carpet. This is an amazing classroom management strategy I've use for years and keeps our classroom looking nice and tidy. The assortment of books that we also received have made a world of difference with their reading, and their ability to take tests on reading counts. My class is extremely grateful for all that we have been given. Thank you so much to all of our donors.”

Funded Jul 22, 2022Thank you so much for your contributions to my classroom. Our doorbell may have seemed trivial, but I am now the main acces to the library for all of the primary students, as the doors must remain locked at all times. The new supplies I got have been so helpful in closing the Covid achievement gap and I could not be more grateful.
Many of the supplies were used as reading intervention centers. I now have enough storage and supplies to truly give my kids the reading interventions they need, regardless of their current levels. My students have loved the exit ticket dry erase strips too. They literally beg me to give them an exit ticket before each recess. It's amazing how such a simple item excites them so much.
My pink and blue writing boards have come in handy too. I primarily have used them to practice letter formation and writing with the kids. It doesn't matter what I ask them to do, as long as it involves the rainbow writers, they are excited. They are pretty easy to please, but in all seriousness, we are all so grateful for every contribution made toward our classroom. Huge thanks from me and all 24 of my kiddos.”

Representing All Kiddos in the Classroom!
Funded Jan 10, 2022Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom project! The kids and I couldn't be more grateful! My students are absolutely loving our weekly read-alouds we have been doing with our diverse books. My kiddos have made multiple comments about how they can actually see themselves on some of the pages, therefore our goal has been accomplished. All students are represented in the stories I read them, and we all love it!
In addition to the books we recieved, we also got great art supplies! I have loved using the sharpies for grading, and they kids love using them for art. It isn't often that they are allowed to use a sharpie, but when they can, they love it! The Cricut has made signs for our classroom and will soon be used to create valentines for my kids parents. I can't wait to show them all we can do with that device. Gotta love modern day technology! We have not yet used the skin color paints and papers, but when I finally have the time to bring it out, the kids will be thrilled! I am so excited to be able to do art that so accurately represents each and every one of my students.
It is not possible to tell you how grateful we are for the generosity and kindness of our donors. These supplies not only make the classroom more fun, but create a positive and inviting environment to all of the students that enter into room 5 at Sutherland Elementary. These supplies will last for years to come. Thank you again for your generous donations to our classroom.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 3 other donors. It's Not What They Learned, but How They Learned It!
Funded Apr 28, 2020This project, as with our world, has taken some unfortunate turn of events. COVID-19 not only held back our economy, our countries spirits, but also our education system. I waited especially long to write this thank you, because I was secretly hoping that we would have returned to school by now. Unfortunately, that is simply not the case. It isn't ideal to have to inform you that the AMAZING products you all contributed to my classroom are doing very little, other than collecting dust.
Due to COVID, a few items were no longer available. Normally I would have been bummed, however this turned out to be a very fortunate twist in our project. I was able to receive a contactless thermometer, which soon enough will aid in our daily life. There is a new normal, and temperature checks will be included in that. This project will not only provide hands on science materials into my classroom, it will also help to keep my students and I safe and healthy.
I genuinely wish I could say more, but given that my students have not even seen the materials, I believe I have said all that I can say. They will absolutely love getting their hands moving while learning about reusable energy, circuit boards, and robotics. Along with having a blast, I can also guarantee that they will be grateful for the cleaning supplies and thermometer, which have the potential to save lives. Thank you for being our class Heroes!”

Because STEM Resources Aren't Neutrons...They Have a Charge!
Funded Oct 24, 2019This project has worked wonders in getting my kiddos interested and willing to learn STEM subjects, especially engineering and robotics. They absolutely love the new robots that they can code or just drive around endlessly. The very first time I introduced the Sphero spark was during a power outage that lasted over an hour. I mean, what else were we supposed to do? The kids were thrilled and still continue to ask to play with it every single day! From a teachers standpoint, I also appreciate having something unique, educational, and fun that I can use as an incentive to learn! In addition, the refrigerator has made it much easier to show chemical reactions and physical reactions between different temperatures. Therefore, it has allowed us to do many more experiments. While all of these items have been amazing, my favorite products are probably the books! They don't know this, but many of the engineering activities we have been taking part in are coming from STEM books that were received in this project! My kids are over the moon excited to continue to learn more about coding and engineering. We cannot thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to have such amazing and unique STEM items in our classroom.
And P.S. our caterpillars are in their chrysalis now!”

Funded Apr 23, 2019As some of you might know, not every student has the same ability when it comes to academics. While some students try much harder than others, school may still not come easily to them. On the other end of the spectrum, some students have school come more "naturally" for them, and little effort is required in order to succeed. Working in a title one school, with 95% low income households, those differences are amplified. I see students that try so hard to succeed and just can't, which is a huge reason I asked for a C-Pen reader. My students who are special needs, who still can't read words as simple as "the", are now thriving. Their inability to read will no longer hold them behind the rest of the class. I am grateful for these gifts, but they are about 30 times more grateful. One student even came up to me after using the pen for a week and said, "Ms. Boschee, It feels like I can read now!" I know this isn't a long term fix, but at least they will no longer be the students that cannot participate in any activity that involves reading.
Other items that were received include a flexible seating option and timers for my students that need a visual method for keeping track of time. I used to use time timers when I worked with students with autism, and I knew that my students would enjoy them as well. The red section get smaller and smaller as time is running out, so no student is ever surprised when I tell them that time is up. It has actually sped up some of my slow workers, because they now know exactly how much time they have for each problem, etc. Sensory sand has been used to entertain my ADHD students, ADD students, behavior issues, and my students who simply earned a relaxing minute. That has been a huge hit in my class, and I cannot thank you enough!
In addition to everything previously listed, I also received a lot of picture books. These are social studies themed books that are more engaging for my students to read, compared textbooks. So far this year as a whole, it has become a tried and proven method for engaging students with social studies lessons, and these books are no exception. Many other items were also given to us, and we are very grateful for all of it! Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose.org Community and 5 other donors. We're "Flexible" in Ms. B's Class!
Funded Oct 10, 2018My kids absolutely love the new flexible seating options! The Kore chairs are currently being used as PBIS "Otter Ticket" rewards and also for my hyperactive kids. These chairs are the only things my students have been using their otter tickets to get lately, and I love it! Keeps them focused and enjoying school all at the same time. They are working like a charm for both student groups.
As for the memory foam reclining chairs, they are AMAZING! My students love to read while they are in those chairs and honestly, I have used them from time to time too! They are extremely comfortable! I wish I would have asked for more, but there is always next time. The ball chair, my kids love that too. I often find them having a bit too much fun, but it truly does keep them focused on their task, while being forced to focus on their balance.
Finally, the printer. Not having to run into the library to collect the items I have printed has truly been a blessing. My classroom management has improved, while my lessons have too. My students have even commented on how many more fun things I have been printing out for them at the drop of a hat. Embarrassingly enough they also commented about how weird it was for me to be, "THIS excited", over a silly printer. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kindness.”

Funded Jul 5, 2018I cannot express to you in words how greatly appreciated you truly are. I never would have imagined having so many generous and kind people out there, simply willing to donate to my classroom and my kiddos. I work in a low income neighborhood in Stockton, California, where art isn't prevalent in the average household. So when I say the kids were ecstatic to receive these art supplies, I mean it. These supplies have made a huge difference in the classroom environment. Now instead of 20 minutes on cool math games, I go straight to art projects, such as building earthquake resistant homes from modeling clay, painting portraits of historic people, or simply creating our very own jewelry.
When I originally showed them these supplies, they were so excited, practically bouncing off the walls, begging me to open them up. Since then, we have done so many great art activities within the first 3 weeks of school. This Friday we are going to be creating self portraits for our binder covers. One of my supplies I ordered was multicultural paint, which they are super excited to use. My classroom will soon be filled with 20 mini Picassos, creative little individuals.
Along with providing us with fun and creative activities, the art supplies also doubled as a PBIS incentive. PBIS is a positive behavior reward system, so art is now an incentive to behave well. My kids are so blessed to be living in a world with generous people such as yourselves. Thank you so much for you support and contributions.”

Setting Up Ms. Boschee's Classroom!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you again for all your donations toward setting up our classroom. Many of the item used by teachers do not automatically come to mind when thinking of "school supplies". One item in particular is a microwave. However, the go-to PBIS reward at my school is a popcorn party. No surprise that it is very difficult to have popcorn parties without a microwave. Since getting the microwave, we have had 8 popcorn parties, which reward the students for perfect attendance, meeting their individual reading goal, weekly line leaders, etc. The students and I are extremely grateful.
Another item I received was a portable voice amplifier. I love bringing our lessons outside, but with so many kids to reach with one small voice, it isn't easy. Since the debut use of my amplifier, more than half of the teachers on my site have either borrowed it or purchased their own. My kids and I have greatly enjoyed the change in scenery, which was made possible by this device.
Other supplies donated were paint, PE equipment, whiteboards, etc. You made it possible for me to do art with them and for them to interactively work with me on whiteboards, and much more. Your donations have changed this class and my teaching for the better.
You have truly made a positive difference in the learning success of my students. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and dedication to learning. Thank you again for your donations!”
