  • Building Artistic Capacity

    Funded Dec 2, 2024

Your generosity strikes again, in the most beautiful way!

Full funding of the project allows for me to create reference sheets ("inspiration pages" as we call them in class) for student artists.

Why is this so critical? Students sometimes possess a limited background knowledge of a certain topic or idea, and reference pages allow for them to see visual ideas and work from them to create their own artwork. Second, some students do not yet possess a level of confidence in their own abilities to feel comfortable and willing to try creating art. The reference pages allow for a scaffold and provide a starting off point for student artists.

Additionally, the refresh of red and blue markers is appreciated, particularly by the youngest artists I teach.

You are truly what allows the visual arts program to grow. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weldon

  • Reflecting Confidence: Mirrors for Self-Portrait Drawing

    Funded Jan 11, 2025

Full funding of this project will provide great opportunities for students to increase and improve their observational skills and knowledge.

Self portraits are coming soon for second graders, who will likely be the first group of young artists to use the new mirrors.

Thinking about their excitement and enthusiasm for the new mirrors brings joy. Thank you for selecting this project to help fund.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weldon

  • Elevating The Art Experience

    Funded Oct 19, 2024

Your generosity toward funding this project is greatly appreciated. As is often the case as an art educator, it was a great privilege to witness the joy of young artists as they assembled their multi-media pieces representing Alphabet Soup.

The photographs show the fascination, curiosity, and enthusiasm of first graders as they experience new materials, new ideas, and express themselves through creativity.

Art classes are short, powerful sessions, packed with information about the elements of art, art history, connecting to culture, and self-expression.

With your donations toward the funding of my projects, more of these experiences, more materials, more joy stems from visual arts.

    We are so very grateful.”

    With gratitude,

  • Building Creative Students' Super Sewing Skills

    Funded Dec 29, 2024

What a wonderful way to start the day, learning about a fully funded project!!

Bringing sewing and fiber arts into the lives of young artists will not only elevate the program I am working to build, it will also change the lives of the young artists acquiring these skills. Your generosity and kindness is changing the world.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weldon

  • Sculpting Scholars, Amazing Artists

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Funding of this project allowed a group of just under 40 students to create their own design of a winter bell, and then learn the art of foil tooling to transfer their design to foil -- seeing the faces of these young artists, full of pure amazement when they saw their creations on foil -- was truly a gift.

The energy and spirit of these students is becoming more and more alive during Art classes. They speak of their artistic choices, describe decisions they are making artistically, and show a sense of pride when viewing their work on display.

This particular project was displayed in our Winter Wonderland hallway this month, on view for family members who attended various events at school.

Best part? This is just the beginning -- there are more students, there is more foil, there are limitless possibilities -- thanks to your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

  • KindergARTen is the Best -- Hands Down!

    Funded Sep 20, 2024

This is the week! Kindergarten students have each had their fingers painted (a new and exciting experience!) and pressed onto a pre-painted canvas. Beginning today, students will use Sharpie markers to add fine details, transforming their prints into snow people! Each student will decorate their easel, and wrap their gift in a white gift bag they recently decorated.

None of the previous description of this Kindergarten art experience would have been possible without your generosity and the funding of this project.

I am sincerely grateful for your donation, and feel truly fortunate to witness the transformative power of visual arts among young learners.”

  • Laminator for Learning Resources

    Funded Dec 12, 2024

Your generosity in funding this project is amazing! Giving the faculty and staff the ability to laminate and create reusable resources for students is a great gift. So much of what we are doing requires resources that can be used multiple times, and lamination allows for this. We sincerely look forward to beginning the development of materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weldon

  • Read and Create!

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Your generous support of this project is so appreciated. Integrating literacy with visual arts is a powerful and valuable way to engage young artists in multiple ways, at a level where growth is possible.

This fully funded project allows the program I’m working to build to come to life. This is a game changer.”

  • Brick by Brick: Inspiring Creativity Through Printing!

    Funded Dec 2, 2024

What an awesome and wonderful surprise! Thank you for choosing to fund this project, which will allow for students to create prints of their work and designs.

The funding of this project allows for opportunities that these students would not otherwise have, due to financial constraints.

I’m so very grateful for your support and I look forward to creating great art with really amazing students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weldon

My students are fun, energetic lovers of learning. They attend a suburban public school, grades 1 through 5, in Western Massachusetts. All students receive free breakfast and lunch and many come from families who are considered at or below poverty level. Many of my students are second language learners. Others have been identified as special learners with social and emotional needs. My classroom is a diverse community of learners. Eighteen students bring their skills and stories to my classroom each day. Students are learning to embrace the ideas of accepting and appreciating others and to be actively involved in their education.
