Math and Science Day at Six Flags will provide our students with the opportunity to actively engage in applying math and science concepts learned in class to make broader connections to careers and the world as it relates to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Often times, students are limited by their in class experience, as they are unable to form connections and real world relevance. However, this event, as well as many other experiential opportunities we provide for students, will help them for connections to gain greater understanding and develop cross functional skills across disciplines, both inside of the classroom and out in the world. Finally, Math and Science Day at Six Flags can also be a fun time for students to further develop social and emotional skills through team work, problem solving, and communication. Our students often tune out to lessons or discussions of complex and complicated mathmatical and scientific concepts, often citing a lack of applicability or connection to the material. However, with this opportunity to see these concepts demonstrated in front of them at and at a location that will be particularly engaging, our goal is to have students become more open-minded about how learning these concepts can benefit them in their daily lives, and potentially their careers.
