Since most of our students come from low-income homes, I want to be able to put more books in their hands. Research shows the best way to increase reading skills is for students to actually engage in reading. These books will help foster a classroom library that provides a variety of texts with multiple reading levels and interests.
With these books, students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will lead them in their learning, during independent reading. These books will support students in growing their reading skills and their knowledge across our curriculum.
Our students have already shown an increasing interest in independent reading, and this project will enrich their learning experiences through literacy.
