  • Comfy Kinders: Relaxing Spot After Returning from Distance Learning

    My students and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us add a little pep in our step this past school year. Because this year came with so many emotional differences than a normal school year would, the new books were an happy boost our crazy year.

    To help the students show an interest and passion for our new books, I was able to read them aloud to the the class. By doing this, the students gravitated them. The students were given special reading time on their own and also an opportunity to read to a partner, which they always love. Oh, they were so happy!

    Unfortunately, due to Covid, we were only allowed minimal furniture inside the classrooms, so I was not able to bring the cozy chairs inside (I didn't know when I first ordered them). However, fingers crossed I will be able to use them for the 2021-22 school year. Hope. Hope.

  • Distance Learning: Creating an Engaging Environment!

This year will be an adventure with lost of twists and turns but you’ve now made it a lot less worrisome and a bit easier. Thank you!”

Houstonisd will be distance learning for AT LEAST 6 weeks. I want to be able to create meaningful and engaging lessons especially for my English Language Learners that will spark excitement and love for learning, especially this being their first primary school experience. They deserve the best and most effective online experience. My school is not providing teachers with new technology. Many computers are over 7+ years old and do not run properly. Distance learning has its challenges however, having a new computer with no glitches will give me the confidence to design content that will engage my students in FUN and exciting lessons, also effective video conferencing with large and small group instruction through Microsoft Teams, especially with my ESL students. I will be able to draw on the screen so the students can specifically see what is being taught and expected. I will be able to use PowerPoint, PDFs, and software to design engaging projects such as sight words lessons, reading lessons, math lessons and IB lessons. I will be able to connect my students to applications for enrichment. I would be able to have a better camera and microphone which will help connect my lessons more effectively to the students through Microsoft Teams. This is such a difficult time. My students deserve the best and I want to be able to provide the best through distance learning. Thank you so very much.
