Help My Students Learn About Their Heritage
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for contributing to my project. Due to your generosity, I now have books that reflect the culture and backgrounds of my multilingual students. My students to have recently come to the United States from Ukraine and Venezuela are particularly appreciative of these books. While I have only had a chance to read a couple of the books so far, my students have told me that they appreciate seeing themselves reflected in the characters and events of the stories. It is so nice to have my own personal library of relevant books that I can easily grab when I am looking for a meaningful book to read to my students.
Thanks again for your generous support.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Bill Gates and 4 other donors.Engaging Elementary Students Through Interactive Tech.
Funded Oct 28, 2011Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the Asus tablet that your donations helped to fund. The students in my school are really enjoying being able to access such current technology. In my position, I am able to visit many different classrooms and students in all grade levels are engaging with the world around them in ways that they never have before.
A couple of weeks ago, a couple of 2nd grade students were able to learn more about their favorite book characters. With headphones in their ears, they asked questions of their favorite characters and were able to hear the characters answer the questions. These same students were able to use a downloaded app to write about their weekend and print it out. I will not soon forget the look on their eyes when they saw their handwriting on a piece of paper coming out of a printer.
How privileged am I to be able to put this technology into the hands of students who would not normally have access to it. Our students are incredibly blessed to have people like you in their lives who care about them and their future successes.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Noyes
Kids Want To Read Books About Kids Like Them!
Funded Feb 7, 2012Words cannot even begin to express how thankful I am for your support of this project. We teach many students of color and they are going to so enjoy reading books about kids like them. Their love of learning and their self-identities will be enhanced in ways that would not be possible without your generous support.
We have so many students who have difficulties getting into books because they are about topics that are not relatable. Once we receive these books, we will be able to work with some of these students and help them to continue to develop their love of reading.
Thanks again for your generous support of kids in South King County!”

Intermediate Students Like to Listen Too!
Funded Oct 24, 2011Thank you so much for your support of my classroom project. The students at my school appreciate your generosity and are enjoying the books very much. Although they have not read all of the books yet, a group of them are currently enjoying Because of Winn Dixie.
The 4th grade students who are reading Because of Winn Dixie get to listen to the story for 20 minutes each day. At first, they were not too sure about listening to a story over days, but they quickly got into the book Nd look forward to it each day. These students are engaged with books in a way that they ave never been before.
Thanks again for your generosity!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Noyes
