  • Remembrance Tiles

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity! I am continually blown away by the support that I have received through Donors choose. I can't wait until my students are able to complete their Holocaust Remembrance Tile Project with the supplies from this project. I know that this project will leave a lasting impact on them.”

  • Then and Now...pandemics of Spanish Flu and COVID-19

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

I can not thank you enough for these books! Reading while in a pandemic was truly and learning experience in itself. The students were able to make connections to real-world experiences and to relate with the victims of the Spanish Flu. As many students have lost loved ones to COVID-19. They were also shocked and surprised at how our current response to COVIC-19 has been very similar to that of the Spanish Flu.

When the books first arrived the students were not too happy to be doing a book study in Social Studies. But once we started reading they really got into it and have stated that this was one of the most enjoyable experiences of the school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wells

  • Clipboards, Rulers, and Scissors!

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you for helping supply my classroom with the basic supplies that students need to be successful! The clip boards have been greatly used as we do a lot of stations and gallery walk-type activities.

The rulers have been used pretty much daily through the use of creating charts and graphic organizers. Not to mention the use of art projects throughout this school year.

Thank you for your support of classrooms like mine. Your help makes it possible to make doing so many hands-on activities possible.”

  • You've Got Mail!

    Funded Mar 10, 2021

Thank you so much for your contributions to this project. I am so thankful that I was able to connect to my students by mailing them cards, stickers, and bookmarkers! The students loved getting mail and treats from school while they were home and attending school virtually.

I received a lot of feedback from parents expressing gratitude for taking the time to send their students a personalized letter, birthday cards, and stickers! I love knowing that I was able to make a connection to students even when COVID had us stuck at home.”

  • Reading to Develop the Fight for Human Rights!

    Funded Feb 9, 2020

Thank you for your support of this project. I am so grateful to all the donors who felt that this project was worthy of your donation. My students were excited to receive the books and looked forward to starting the unit on Human Rights.

The plan was/ is to have this book center on the concept of the fight for Human Rights. Students were going to first define what Human Rights are we all entitled to just because we are human. Students were also going to be examining issues surrounding Syrian Refugees and their struggle to be treated fairly. I had planned to take pictures of students interacting with the text and having book talks.

But this start of this is going to be delayed because of the shutdown due to the Covid-19. There are aspects of this unit that will be taught through Elearning. Some of the programs my district has purchased have sections of this novel, but students will not be able to read the entire novel until we return to school. I am so thankful for each one who gave to this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wells

Many middle school students go through this time in their lives without reading an entire book. I would like to center my human rights unit around reading the book "I Am Malala", this book was inspired by real-life events of a young woman near their age and her fight against terrorist for an education. But the large question is what are basic Human Rights we are entitled to because we are born into the Human race? I want to give my students the experience of reading this novel as a class in book circles and to challenge them to answer the question what are Basic Human Rights?
