Let's Reward Reading with Reading
Funded Oct 31, 2024Thank you greatly for your generous donation to our "Let's Reward Reading with Reading" project. We met our goal of raising $4000, we had 58 readers reading a total of 7,788 minutes. Our principal even held true to his promise and kissed a pig!
Student excitement was awesome. Each student who received a donation loved getting their brag tag and the prizes that you helped provide were over the top! The STEAM kits and Piggy and Elephant stuffed animals were the most sought after. On behalf of my school, students and community, thank you!”

Pop It Keyboards Help Us Learn Our Letters and Keyboarding!
Funded Feb 25, 2024As the school year progresses, our students continuously develop new needs. One of the needs that I observed was that our students needed to know how to use a keyboard and know their letters all at once. For most kids this was obtainable but for some, it was a real challenge. Your help in providing the Pop-It Keyboards helped my students strive to overcome this barrier. Not only were they able to spend some time familiarizing their hands and brains with the keyboard but they were able to do it in a way that was fun and engaging. Students were excited when it was time to practice keyboards!”

Battling the Reluctant Reader!
Funded Oct 20, 2023Thank you for
your donation to our school library. Your donation provided books that are ideal for reluctant readers. These books are reviewed by students and they have the opportunity to check the books out and read. I couldn't keep the books on the shelves. One student even mentioned to a peer-read this book-"I loved it!".
During students' library time, I give a variety of book ideas to my students. I have reluctant readers in all my classes and making sure that I have books on the topics or with the characters that they enjoy is very important. Many of my older students are into history, younger students are interested in reading more with the characters we read in class. Having choices for both allow students the opportunity to enjoy reading what they want.
Thank you for allowing me to bring in these experiences for my students. Your kindness and generosity is appreciated.”

This classroom project was brought to life by A Donor Who Loves Teachers and 4 other donors.Tools This Librarian Needs for A Successful 2022-2023!
Funded Sep 16, 2022Thank you for your donation to our school library. Your donation provided books that are centered around technology and internet safety. These books were used as read alouds that ensured every student had the opportunity to hear the story and the lesson it taught.
During students' library time, I incorporate writing as much as possible. I also try to tie in social emotional lessons when possible. With the story, "Nerdy Birdy Tweets," I was able to do both! As you can see in the pictures, students wrote what the story made them think about and how they felt. Some examples that students wrote were, "One time I annoyed someone. I felt disappointed of myself." Another wrote "Having no friends. I would feel sad."
Thank you for allowing me to bring in these experiences for my students. Your kindness and generosity is appreciated.”

Mrs. Welden's STEM for the Library
Funded Jan 5, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations. It was like Christmas when the items arrived! My students were excited too! I explained to the kids that all the items were donated by people who we had never met. One student said, "For us? Just so we can learn? They don't even know us." It was a touching moment.
We are using the resources that you helped purchase by solving many problems. We have started simple by doing activities like build the three pigs a new house that the wolf couldn't blow down along with the story, "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf." We've also had to create codes to get the mouse to the cheese. All of these projects have promoted critical thinking skills, problem solving, and cooperation. We have also explored careers and for once I had female students say they wanted to be a meteorologist and a paleontologist, which shows me that the discussions we have had about STEM are meaningful.
The next steps for this project is to delve deeper into what coding is, how to use it and for them to create their own codes to solve a worldly problem. We will continue to use the building tools to solve and create. Again, thank you so much for your contribution to my school's library and students.”

Read To Me Library
Funded Aug 22, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom's "Read to Me Library." This has been such a blessing to my students. Your help has allowed readers, whom normally would cringe at the thought of reading a book- pick up a book, listen to it, and enjoy reading. On the other end of the spectrum, my higher achieving students have had the ability to read even more challenging books with the "Read to Me Library." They've also enjoyed some of their old favorites.
Parents have been very receptive to this idea. They have welcomed it and embraced the idea of receiving help. I've even had some parents tell me that they have listened to the stories to help their child along. The kids love the various types of books and are always asking for new, exciting tales to listen to.
Not only is this "Read to Me Library" used at home, but it is used at school. Students gravitate toward the bins that hold the cd players, books, and cds when their work is completed or during free read time. They enjoy helping each other out by recommending a certain book to their friend.
How do I know this is a successful project? Those reluctant readers are now taking AR (Accelerated Reader) quizzes and PASSING them! The proud smiles and excitement in their voices when they tell me they passes, warms my heart. Thank you so much for helping my students succeed!”
