The time is here! My first full year as an elementary school teacher! I can hardly contain my excitement. I accepted my first teaching position in Virginia Beach. I will be teaching 4th grade. I graduated from the College of Saint Rose in three years. I earned Magna Cum Laude Latin Honors and received my degree in Childhood Education and Special Education. I didn’t become a teacher for money or fame. Neither are rewards for a teaching career. I became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of my students. Teaching is not about a paycheck. It’s about providing your students with the opportunity to be successful, to feel loved and respected, and to believe in themselves. As a first year teacher, creating a new classroom for my students is a significant financial undertaking. I want to decorate my classroom and provide my students with the resources to reach their full potential. I want my students to feel welcomed and safe in my classroom. I am asking for your help to create my first classroom; a classroom that is engaging, inclusive, and a place that my students can call home. Your donation will assist in the purchase of materials for a diverse classroom library, necessary everyday supplies (pencils, erasers, dry erase boards and markers, hand sanitizer, tissues, etc.), manipulatives for hands on learning, materials for flexible seating options and organizational items a 4th grade student needs to succeed. I appreciate the time you have taken to read this. Thank you in advance for your consideration to help support my classroom efforts and my future students.
