  • Pumpkin Jack Experiment and Kleenex

    Funded Jun 24, 2023

My students are absolutely loving our Pumpkin Jack Experiment. We went on a field trip, late November and one of my students carefully chose Jack. The next day I read Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell. It tells the story of a pumpkin's life cycle, from pumpkin, to jack-o-lantern, to being thrown into the garden, and then sprouting. Next my students and I placed some dirt into a glass jar, I carved Jack, and then we sealed him into an air tight container. As you can see in the pictures, Jack is beginning to decompose. My students tell me all the time how gross he is. One student in particular always wants to draw him. I am not allowed to post her pictures because her mom didn't sign permission to do that.

We are going to continue to let Jack decompose and in the spring I will place the grow light on him. Hopefully, my students will see new growth and we can plant them in our outdoor garden.

Thank you so much for these amazing materials. This was a fun experiment to teach the life cycle of a pumpkin to my students. Wish us luck that it works and we have new pumpkins next year!”

  • Basic Supplies For The New School Year

    Funded Jun 23, 2023

Thank you so much for blessing my students with these basic supplies. Since we have received them, my students have been keeping their headphones and Chromebook QR cards organized in the shoe organizers. As you can see in the pictures, they fit perfectly under our SmartBoard. I used some Heat Transfer Vinyl and pressed my student's class number on a pocket. My students haven't lost a headphone yet (knock on wood.)

My students are using the black pencil pouches for their pencils. They each received 6 pencils at the beginning of the year. If they keep all six pencils through each week they get small prize in their pouch. I always replenish their pencils on Mondays. They are excited when they keep all of their pencils and receive their prize! One student said that his teacher did this last year, but it wasn't as fun as it is this year!

The mesh pouches have kept their notebooks and crayons organized. In fact, they are so organized that the desk fairy comes quite often to visit their desk, and leave a small prize!

We couldn't live without our Kleenex! One of my students likes to take the empty boxes, and his pencils, to make cars out of them! I told him that when becomes famous not to forget about me! (LOL)

Thank you for all you have done for my students! You are so appreciated by us! You have given my students some much needed materials that I couldn't afford.”

    Ms. Webster

  • New Supplies for a New Year

    Funded Jun 24, 2023

First of all, thank you so much for your donations and supporting my students. My students have loved having an Accmor Bike Water Bottle Holder on their desk. Their water bottles aren't falling off with a loud bang. I did have to purchase some small nuts to place on the end because they kept falling off of the desk leg. One student especially loves his so I gave him an extra one to take home. You should have seen his eyes light up!

The magnets were used with my students' shoe organizers to create a storage place for headphones and Chromebook QR Codes. These have been amazing and a life saver. I haven't had one student's headphones get accidentally sucked up in a vacuum!!!

My students always need Kleenex, which is the best brand!

The folders will be used at the end of the year to place my students' special awards and papers.

Thank you so much for helping my student stay organized and have fun in school!”

    Ms. Webster

  • Vocabulary A-to-Z

    Funded Jun 18, 2023

My students have thoroughly enjoyed Vocabulary A-Z. They ask for it every day, multiple times a day! I have typed in their spelling words each week and selected game based activities for them. For example, one game that my students love is Which Word. They love being able to read a sentence and choose the correct spelling word. They tell me that they like it because it is challenging. You should hear them when they get all of the sentences correct!

Another thing my students like is that Vocabulary A-Z already has premade lessons that go with our reading series. So, each week my students are able to extend their reading lessons. This has helped with their vocabulary, phonics, comprehension, and self-esteem. My reluctant readers are wanting to read their story in their reader now!

Anytime that my students can learn, playing game based activities, they are excited. Vocabulary A-Z makes learning fun for my students and places happy smiles on their faces.

Thank you so much for giving Vocabulary A-Z to my students. I wish you could see how much they love it!”

  • Hammock Garden Part 2

    Funded Jul 13, 2023

Thank you so much for blessing my students with this hammock garden! They love laying in a hammock and reading outside. In fact, when it's time to go in, my students groan because they aren't finished reading their book! This really makes my heart happy because before this project came to life it was hard to get my reluctant readers to read! Now my students beg to go outside and read!

I would love to write more projects to build another set of these hammocks because ten isn't enough for a whole class to read at once. My students have to switch from reading at our picnic tables to reading in a hammock. They are so excited to read in a hammock that they run to them when it's their turn. I am afraid that they will run into another student and get hurt.

I want to thank you again. You put a smile on every one of my students' faces. You also gave them the enjoyment of reading a good book.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webster

  • Hammock Garden Part 1

    Funded Jun 27, 2023

My students love, love, love, love the hammock reading area at our school! The pictures show their smiles and excitement. Most of my students had never sat in a hammock before and were a little leery. They were afraid they were going to fall out of it. I love the fact they are getting to do something that they have never done before. A lot of my students told me how fun it was to read in a hammock and asked if they could do it again. Our school's announcement page posted this video of how it was built. You can see some of my students learning how to clip the hammock on the wood posts.

An Eagle Scout needed a project to help his community and chose us. He and his family built the structures, using these materials, and my principal ordered the hammocks. It has been a joy watching my students enjoy reading. This outdoor hammock area has really sparked an interest in reading with some of my unenthusiastic readers. They could lay in a hammock and read all day.

The Eagle Scout's parents are going to build a roof to cover the hammocks so that is won't be too hot for students to read.

Thank you so much for giving my students, and my school's students, this amazing gift!”

  • It's a Gas!

    Funded Jun 10, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting my students. The first project my students did, using this sublimation printer, was to make a name puzzle. The puzzle in one of the pictures was approved by a student's parent since it was her child's name. They turned out really cute. I could not take a picture of all of them because they have their name on them. Through the process of making their puzzle my students learned that the ink becomes a gas when it is heated by our heat press. They also learned that the sublimation ink has a smell when that happens. They wanted to see the gas, but I had to explain that we can't see it. One student exclaimed, "We sure can smell the gas!" Some students tried to scratch off the ink from their puzzle but failed. Once the ink adheres it is permanent.

The next project my students will make is Christmas ornaments for their family. I already have the material. On one side of the ornament my students will print out their snowman that they drew and I will press it for them. The other side of their Christmas ornament will be their picture. I will print their picture with the sublimation printer and heat press it to the ornament.

There will be many projects that my students will use this sublimation printer for this year. My students will create graphics for tote bags. My students love this sublimation printer and are very appreciative of this gift from you all. Thank you for blessing my students and showing them kindness!”

  • We Don't Want to Crack

    Funded May 10, 2023

My students are using these Seat Sacks to place their BEAR Binder (it's a binder that my students take home every night). They sure have helped my students stay organized. My students also place the book they are reading in it so it is easier to find. One student told me that he was glad he had a Seat Sack because he loses everything.

Since receiving these Seat Sacks, I have let my students write each other positive notes. They then place the notes in each other's Seat Sack. My students have loved reading them. It has helped with self-esteem and behavior.

My students will continue to use these as an organizational tool and to help with social and emotional learning. They are so proud that their desks are not messy. They are even prouder when they receive a positive note from a friend.

Thank you so much for supporting my students. They are having a great year because of your generosity!”

  • Hammock Garden Part 3

    Funded Jul 16, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation. We have received all of our materials for the hammock garden and are going to start building it this fall. My students were so excited when they saw the wood and other materials. Then, when I showed them what we were building they really got excited.

My students used the colored pencils and drawing paper today. We read the book First Day Jitters and then my students drew a picture of how they felt on the first day of school. I could hear them talking amongst themselves, and telling each other how they felt. I placed their pictures in our hallway. My students look at them as we pass by them. When students walk by, they show them their picture. They are very proud of them.

When our hammock reading area is built, using this wood, my students will enjoy reading in it. They will continue to use the drawing paper and colored pencils throughout the year for different projects.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my students this opportunity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webster

  • Storage Rack for Surface Desks

    Funded May 23, 2023

Thank you so much for providing this storage for my students' Surf Desks. My students received this the last day of school. They used it one day but they loved how they can stack their desk in it.

This next school year my students can store the Surf Desks in this cart at the beginning of the year. Then, my students won't be stumbling over them. They will be safe and secure, and easy for my students to get one out to sit. This storage cart is also small so that it doesn't take up much room. It is a great addition for my students.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webster

Even though sometimes my class is viewed as a whole, my class is truly made up of individuals. Individuals who want learning opportunities that use different resources rather than focusing only on textbooks. They want multi-sensory experiences that tap the different potential of each of them. They like to move and collaborate and take ownership of their learning. I am teaching second graders who are tomorrow's future and they need a community to help them. Your donations will help each individual student reach their goals one donation at a time. Thank you for helping each of my students get a successful start on their journey.
