  • Kindness Rocks and Winter Gloves

    Funded Oct 15, 2024

This project has helped my students develop important life lessons about kindness, community involvement, and giving back. One of the most memorable projects we undertook this year was painting rocks to place around our community. This project not only allowed my students to express their creativity, but it also gave them the opportunity to engage with their community in a meaningful way. In addition to painting the rocks, my students also took part in a heartwarming initiative to give gloves to the homeless. Together, these two projects had a lasting impact on the students, the community, and even the homeless individuals who received the gloves.

The rock-painting project began as a way to spark my students' creativity while also encouraging them to contribute to their community. Each student was given a smooth rock and paint supplies. I asked the students to paint designs that would brighten someone's day. They created colorful patterns and designs. As they painted, the students were full of excitement and joy, knowing their work would soon be shared with others. The idea was simple: after completing the paintings, the students would place their rocks around the neighborhood for anyone to find. The hope was that these rocks would surprise and delight members of the community, brightening their day with a message of hope, positivity, and care. The students were enthusiastic about this act of kindness, and the excitement in their eyes when they saw someone discover one of their rocks was heartwarming.

But the project didn't stop at rock painting. After a class discussion about the importance of helping others, my students wanted to do something else that could make a difference. During the colder months, many homeless individuals in our area struggle to keep warm. The students, having learned about the challenges the homeless face, expressed a strong desire to help. Each student was given a pair of gloves, and together, we organized them into care packages that we could distribute to the homeless. This experience allowed my students to develop empathy and understand the importance of helping those less fortunate than themselves.

Both the rock-painting project and the gloves for the homeless initiative taught my second-grade students the power of kindness. They learned that even small acts of generosity—whether it's a painted rock or a pair of gloves—can make a big difference in the lives of others. These projects helped my students connect with their community and understand that they can contribute to making the world a better place. They learned that kindness and compassion aren't just important values to hold within themselves, but they are values that can be shared and spread to others.

In conclusion, the projects my second-grade students undertook—painting rocks for the community and giving gloves to the homeless—were impactful not just because they helped others, but because they taught the students valuable lessons about kindness, empathy, and community service. The students not only created art that brought joy to others but also took an active role in making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. These experiences will stay with them for years to come, shaping them into compassionate individuals who understand the importance of helping others in their community.”

  • The Complete Set of Dogman Books

    Funded Mar 4, 2025

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to my DonorsChoose.org project, which helped me bring Dog Man books into my second-grade classroom. Thanks to you, my students now have access to one of the most engaging and exciting book series. These books will make a huge difference in my students’ love for reading.

As a teacher, my primary goal is to foster a lifelong passion for learning in my students. For many of them, reading is a skill that takes time and effort to master, but with your support, they now have the opportunity to experience the joy and excitement that comes with reading books they can connect with. Dog Man, with its humor, relatable characters, and engaging storylines, will captivate their imaginations and inspire them to read more, which is something every educator hopes for.

Your generosity will create an atmosphere in which learning feels more like an adventure, and they will help me provide the resources needed to support my students' individual reading journeys. Watching my students grow in their reading abilities and enthusiasm is one of the greatest rewards of teaching, and it's all possible because of your kindness.

Please know that your contribution has made a meaningful difference in the lives of my students and has inspired them to continue exploring new worlds through books. Your belief in the power of education and your willingness to support my classroom means more than words can express. On behalf of my students and myself, thank you for helping bring the joy of reading into our classroom. We are incredibly grateful for your kindness and support.”

  • Tivi Trays for Mental Health Part 1

    Funded Sep 16, 2024

Thank you again for your incredible support in bringing Tivi Trays to my classroom! I'm excited to share how they've made a difference for my second graders.

Since we received the Tivi Trays, my students have been using them almost every day for a variety of activities. I've been able to set up mini-workstations for small group reading and math activities, My students have also used them for art projects. They are perfect for holding their art paper and paint. They are so easy to clean afterwards also!

When my students first saw the Tivi Trays, their eyes lit up with excitement! They couldn't believe they each had their own personal space sorting activities, reading activities and art projects. It's been so fun to watch them take ownership of their learning environment, and I can already see how much more focused and independent they've become.

One memorable moment was when we used the trays for a collaborative science project. Each student was able to carry their materials around, making it easy for them to work together and share ideas. They loved having everything in one place, and it helped keep the learning flowing smoothly.

Looking ahead, we are diving into a new math unit, and the Tivi Trays are going to be so helpful for students as they work on problem-solving and hands-on activities. The trays will allow them to keep their work organized, making it easier to stay on track and share their thinking with the group.

Once again, thank you for your generous donation. Your support is making such a positive impact on my classroom, and I can't wait to see all the new projects and moments that the Tivi Trays will continue to support!”

  • Privacy, Reading Tents, and Sharp Pencils

    Funded Jul 15, 2024

I am so excited to share the wonderful impact your donation has had on our classroom! Thanks to your generosity, we now have tablecloths and an awesome pencil sharpener. They've made a positive difference for my students' learning and creativity.

We've transformed the tablecloths into cozy reading tents that my students absolutely love. Each Friday, my students set up their reading tents as a quiet space for independent reading. They use the tablecloths to create a "mini library" environment in the classroom. This special reading area gives them a space to escape into a book, and it has truly sparked their excitement for reading! One of the most memorable moments was when we used the tents as part of a "Reading Under the Stars" event, where the lights were dimmed, and we had a fun, immersive reading session with flashlights. It was magical to see how engaged the students were, completely absorbed in their books, while inside their own little tent.

When my students first saw the tablecloths, they were beyond excited. They immediately wanted to help set up the tents, and they couldn't wait to have their own little "reading space." Their eyes lit up as they realized that they would be able to create their own little hideaways for reading! It was such a joy to watch them take ownership of the space and eagerly dive into their books in this new environment.

The reading tents have become a regular part of our classroom routine. The next step is to deepen our reading experience by incorporating more interactive projects in the tents. For example, we're planning to start a "Reading Journals" project, where students will read a chapter or two in the tents and then record their thoughts and reflections in journals. We'll also be doing a group book club activity where they will share what they're reading with one another in their cozy reading spaces. The idea is to continue fostering a love for reading while encouraging collaboration and personal reflection.

The reading tents have created a sense of excitement and ownership over their learning space, and my students are more motivated than ever to pick up a book. Your donation has made this all possible, and I can't thank you enough for helping to create such a special place in our classroom!

The pencil sharpener is awesome! My students always have a sharp pencil and can do their class work! They love watching their pencil sharpen and move up when it is done!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webster

  • Enhancing the Second Grade Experience Using Diverse Classroom Supplies

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

I am so excited to share how your generous donations have brought so much joy and learning to our classroom! Thanks to your kindness, my students have had the opportunity to use a variety of fun and meaningful resources, each of which has helped foster creativity, engagement, and even team-building skills.

My students are using the Milliard Toy Metal Shopping Cart for their lunch boxes.

This shopping cart has quickly become a favorite in our classroom! The students use it for taking their lunches to the cafeteria. This year no one has misplaced their lunch because of this cart!

The glow-in-the-dark glasses and glow in the dark hats will be a huge hit during our end of the year glow party! Students will wear them to celebrate a special milestone. It will be an excellent way to bring energy and excitement to our classroom! The neon hats will also be an essential part of our glow party! The students will wear them during our event and use them for a "classroom fashion show." This activity will encourage self-expression and teamwork.

We've used the sticker paper for creating custom stickers for our class projects. The students designed their own stickers as part of a creative writing activity, which we then printed out for them to decorate their folders and notebooks. It was an amazing way to integrate art, technology, and writing into one project.

The Tootsie Pops were a delightful treat for our class! We used them for a fun math lesson on counting and sharing. It was a sweet way to introduce basic math concepts like addition and subtraction, and the kids loved getting a candy treat when they reached certain milestones in their work.

The adorable mini animal plush toys and cellophane bags have become our go-to gift for student birthdays. Each student will receive one as a birthday gift. My students that have received one, has felt special on their big day. The excitement and gratitude from my students has been wonderful to see. These gifts have added an extra special touch to the celebrations and have helped my students feel like their birthdays were truly celebrated by the entire class.

We're currently working on decorating the wooden coasters as part of a holiday project. The students have been using paint, markers, and beads to personalize them into ornaments for their family. It's a great opportunity for them to practice fine motor skills and express their creativity.

Thanks to your generosity, we have all of these incredible materials that not only make learning more fun but also give my students the opportunity to express themselves in unique ways. Your donation has truly made a lasting impact on our classroom, and we can't thank you enough!”

  • Classroom Store and Financial Literacy

    Funded Apr 15, 2024

I'm thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous contribution has had on my students and our classroom! Thanks to your support, we now have a Cricut Hat Press, and it's been a game-changer for our creativity and hands-on learning.

Since receiving the Cricut Hat Press, we've been able to dive into some truly exciting projects. My students have already used the machine to design and create custom hats. We've been learning about personal expression, design, and even the basics of entrepreneurship as the students have worked together to create their own unique designs. The excitement and pride they felt when they saw their designs come to life were beyond words!

When we unboxed the Cricut Hat Press, my students were absolutely thrilled. Their eyes lit up, and they were eager to get started. They couldn't wait to start designing their own creations and see their ideas come to life. It was a wonderful moment that sparked so much enthusiasm for learning, and I could see their confidence grow as they realized they could make something with their own hands.

We're currently working on creating personalized hats for a school spirit event. The next step will involve researching different hat styles, discussing how to make designs that resonate with our school community, and refining our skills in digital design and heat pressing. This project will not only teach them valuable skills in art and design but also about teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. I'm so excited to see where this project takes them!

Thanks to your generosity, my students are not just learning about the material; they're gaining real-world skills that they can carry with them for years to come. You've given them the opportunity to explore new interests and capabilities, and for that, we are incredibly grateful.

Thank you again for your kindness and support!”

    With gratitude,

Even though sometimes my class is viewed as a whole, my class is truly made up of individuals. Individuals who want learning opportunities that use different resources rather than focusing only on textbooks. They want multi-sensory experiences that tap the different potential of each of them. They like to move and collaborate and take ownership of their learning. I am teaching second graders who are tomorrow's future and they need a community to help them. Your donations will help each individual student reach their goals one donation at a time. Thank you for helping each of my students get a successful start on their journey.
