Ready, Set, Go 2023-2024
Funded Aug 31, 2023Thank you very much for our "chairback buddies". They are extremely useful in the classroom. It has helped my students with their organizational skills. Their supplies are readily available, and valuable teaching/learning time is not lost because supplies are within the students' arms reach.
Ever so often, you can see students checking to ensure that nothing is falling out of their
"chair buddies".
The day the "chair buddies" arrived, my students were excited to put their supplies neatly away. For the most part, this excitement lives on. We will always be thankful for your kindness.”

Funded Nov 30, 2022My students were excited to receive these supplies. They are always grateful for any tools that will help them succeed. Their eyes "lighted up" when they realized that they would have their own dry erase markers.
We are so thankful for the supplies we received from this project. We made "Writing Offices" with the file folders, which served dual purpose. The students used them as a resource when they are writing because it has tips on how to be a successful writer, and they also use them as a focus board. They all have their own private office and now they are more encouraged to write.
The dry erase markers were a hit. Students love instant feedback. They were eager to respond using their board and their markers.”

Funded Sep 20, 2022This has been one of my favorite projects. All the materials had a positive impact on my students. We used the dry erase boards on a daily basis for immediate feedback. Students write on the board, hold it up, and I can assess knowledge immediately. This added to my students' confidence.
The car kits had the greatest impact. They worked cooperatively to build their cars. This not only promoted creativity, but it also fostered communication skills. It was a welcome sight to see healthy discussions taking place. Leaders also emerged from this activity.
The other materials helped with the students' social-emotional development.
As always, I am grateful to all the donors for thinking about my students.”

Funded Aug 8, 2022The chairback buddy pockets were some of the best things donated to my classroom. My students' materials were very organized and it was readily available. Their desks were no longer cluttered and we did not lose time search for materials.
When the chairback buddy pockets came, my students immediately went to work organizing their materials. They were very excited to get themselves organized.
The rotating caddies were awesome. Supplies were readily available. It was great that there were portable because we moved them around easily. Students were able to take them to different stations. Again, instructional time was not lost search for supplies.
Once again, thank you Donors Choose for helping my student with their organizational skills.”

Funded Jan 29, 2022On behalf of my students, I want to thank you for funding my project especially during these times when we are transitioning to fulltime back in the classroom.
The plexiglass contributed to the safety of my students. We were able to get closer to each other in a safe environment. Working in cooperative groups always enhance learning for my students. The plexiglass also enabled my student to interact with each other more freely as you can see in the photographs attached.
We certainly appreciate the fact that strangers cared enough about our safety and contributed to this project.”

Reading Is Fun
Funded Nov 29, 2021It is with heartfelt gratitude that I send this thank you note on behalf of my students.
When I found out that the project was funded, my students asked me to explain what that meant. It was a joy for them to know that strangers cared about them. At first, they were disappointed because we did not start reading the book immediately. However, I needed to get a carry case for them since the books were going to be used both in class and at home. I also wanted to ensure that the students would take care of their books. They are so proud to carry their books back and forth.
Thank you DonorsChoose for helping me achieve my objectives. I have concrete proof that my students' reading levels are increasing. However, the most important objective was "fostering the love of reading", and that is being met. The students are always eager to find out what will happen in subsequent chapters and they are enjoying their journey as is evident in their journals. One student reads to her younger brother, who has a learning disability, and she says he looks forward to their interaction.”

Listening, Repeating, Reading with Technology
Funded Jul 29, 2019Thank you so much for funding my project. The students are delighted and are now using the headphones during my reading class. These headphones have enabled my students to access a special reading program that will certainly enhance their comprehension as well as speech and language. They have also afforded them the opportunity to be interactive with any program that require listening and speaking. The are in awe to not only listen, but to also speak.
My ESOL students (the ones whose first language is not English) is advancing at a very fast rate because they are not hesitant to repeat things when using these headphones. Normally some of them are a bit timid to speak because of lack of fluency. Now they can do it at their own pace. The fact also is that no one is listening to them and so they are more likely to take the risk of speaking.
Many of my students cannot afford to buy headphones and the self-directed computer programs require headphones. Also, the school cannot provide headphone for everyone. So having my 20 headphones certainly gave my students the tool that they needed. We will be forever grateful to you for your kindness.”

Funded Nov 20, 2018Your generous gift has certainly made a positive impact in my classroom. Many of my students don't have Internet connection at home and are not able to do basis research project. Now that I have the laptops and headphones for them, they are able to do their research. Some have access to the web, but they do not have a printer at home. Therefore, some of them will do their research at home and then print their project at school.
Recently, they had to do two research projects that required technology use. They were very motivated because they could print their photographs in color. Every student participated in this project because they had the necessary tool. They only drawback is I have to limit their use because ink is expensive.
The laptops are also very useful when I am doing differentiated instruction. Students who need additional help with reading are now able to use them at a listening center. They also work on "i-Ready", a program purchased by the school district that allows them to work on reading at their level.
On behalf of my students, I must say a great big thank you because they now have access to technology that is preparing them to compete in this technological world.”

Ms. Webb
