  • Do You Remember Singing Learning Songs?

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Well, this was the most amazing thing to happen since I have know about DonorsChoose.org. Not only did you make every teacher's dream come true, you also help get the word out that teachers need financial help from our communities. Even my 84 year old mother asked if I had hear about your funding all projects.

As a teacher, it means so much to me and my students that I do not have to buy every extra item I need and want for my classroom and students. While our school provided for everything we just HAVE to have, sometimes the extra things that make learning stick are not included in the budget. Thank you for making our classroom a little more awesome.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Watwood

  • Butterflies Science

    Funded Apr 2, 2018

I am having a hard time teaching in class today. The kids are so excited. They keep running up to the net exclaiming "We have one more! Look another one is hatching." It is one of the best days ever. I love seeing their adorable little faces light up.

We have learned all about life cycles. We watched our tiny caterpillars double in size almost every day as they ate and ate. We have been checking every day and today is the day that the butterflies emerged. I hope they will always remember how fun kindergarten can be and will appreciate all the insects in our world.

You made our classroom experience better. Items like butterflies are not included in school budgets, but they make learning stick. Having a resource to go to to get extra items makes me a better teacher because I can expand learning and add new and exciting things to our days.

Thank you! Thank you from each of my children also.”

  • Math Monsters in Kindergarten

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

My goodness the children are loving their new "toys". They do not even know they are working. One child said, "I bet the other kindergartens are jealous!" I have to say that I bet they are too. It is so wonderful to have activities that help the children with counting to 100 that are more fun than just counting out loud to 100. These activities help the children see the patterns in numbers and will give them a better understanding of how numbers work.

I hope you know how much every teacher who used DonorsChoose.org loves having help with their classroom. All schools do provide us with things to use to teach, but honestly it takes more to make a classroom fun. Particularly with the little children. They learn from playing. In play they learn that learning is a good thing.

I believe having people who offer to help us obtain the extras for our classroom makes all DonorsChoose.org teachers better. We are more willing to try different things because we know we have support. We know that the budget does not limit us. Thank you for supporting education and my classroom.”

  • Read-Aloud Favorites - Help Create Memories

    Funded Oct 18, 2017

Oh, my goodness! We are loving our new read aloud books. Even the teacher gets read to after lunch. The second half of the year I am giving the students the option of taking a nap or working quietly with reading during that time. Without hesitation they will pick the book. Having these classical books read to the students during Kindergarten will make it much easier for them to actually read the stories on their own as the children get older.

I am so very grateful that you too knew that this would be helpful in our classroom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • Dry Erase Boards Save Trees

    Funded Sep 17, 2017

Thank you so very much for providing these wonderful dry erase boards for our class. I fell so blessed to have donors who help provide for my students. The children LOVE writing on the board and they listen carefully so that they can use the boards. It is easy for me to check and make sure they understand what I am teaching because I can see their answer. Dry Erase boards are a great resource in any classroom.

It truly is a great gift to give a teacher tools to make learning more effective. These dry erase boards keep the students on task and interested in writing the answer.

I am very grateful to have you support the learning in our classroom!”

  • A Place For Every Person In Our Class

    Funded Jul 12, 2017

Kindergarten is an age of learning about personal space and where you body belongs during the day. Our new carpet is a perfect addition to our classroom. Each table is assigned a color that matches the rows on our carpet. The students can choose any place on that row to sit. Having clearly marked spots helps so much. I never have to hear "She is touching me."

During the day we come to the carpet to sing, read books, watch TV, and dance. It is great for helping the students know where they belong. We build community on the carpet when we gather for our morning greeting. The kids also love building with the blocks in the middle of rug.

Thank you so much for sending us the carpet and helping to provide for the needs in our classroom.”

  • Help Me Help My Students' Parents

    Funded Mar 3, 2017

We started a new year today and I am so grateful to you all for the books that you provided. One of my parents came into open house today and told me that their son gets up early every day and reads while he waits for the rest of the family to wake up. It made me so happy to hear that he loves to read. I know that having these books to read helped to create this love of books.

We start a new year next week and the books will continue to be used to help students learn to read. Thank you so much for your support of our classroom.”

  • Keep Supplies Close and Organized

    Funded Jul 27, 2017

I am setting up my classroom right now and as I left tonight I thought "I hope I get the chair back buddies. They will make things so much easier." Then I came home and saw the email that they had been funded. Thank you does not seem enough. It really will make keeping up with supplies and workbook so much easier for my students. This will make our classroom flow better and we will have more time for the important things. I am beyond grateful. This news made my night!”

  • We like to move it, move it!

    Funded Sep 30, 2016

Thank you hardly seems enough for all the wonderful activities you provided for our class. My students have so enjoyed using everything to move and be active five year old children. I know that I have such fond memories of using a parachute when I was a child. I am sure these children will also remember this time with fondness.

I am so grateful to donors like you for your support of our classroom. I know that I am later than I should be in getting my gratitude to you. Please know that I have been grateful since the moment you helped us get these items for our class. It means the world to teachers to have the support of companies like you. It makes our teaching better.”
