  • Bringing Lasers to the classroom!

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you so much for your commitment to our classroom and our school. Having a laser has been a dream of mine for a number of years. Our students were immediately curious about what a laser is and its capabilities.

With a laser, we will be able to engrave student's work on a permanent surface. We will also be able to construct models. The models can help students understand construction aspects. They will also let students explore different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) projects.

Again, we are so grateful that you are committed to helping our students grow and be given the opportunity to work with different technological outputs.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Warner

  • HEPA Filter for the classroom

    Funded Jul 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your dedication to our classroom and school community. We are so grateful for your support of our students. It means the world to them as a school community.

You have helped provide a clean and safe environment for our students. Sickness in school buildings has definitely been on the rise. Committing to clean air is a way to help lower sickness in our buildings. Our students can feel more comfortable knowing that their air is being cleaned in the classroom. Comfort in the classroom leads to better engagement and learning in the classroom.”

  • Hot Wheels Phase 3 and New Graphic Novels

    Funded Mar 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity! Our students were excited to receive their new books. It is great that they have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding with reading. Furthermore, these new books help bring enjoyment to our students. The love to read and having new books, gets them more excited to read.

The car storage has also been a hit. This storage container has allowed us to be more efficient in the classroom with our Hot Wheels unit. Our students like having a consistent place for their cars.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Warner

  • Organizational and Cleaning Tools

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thank you so much for committing to our classroom. Our students are extremely grateful to have computer mice. They use these for various programs that help them code and learn 3D design. These programs are much easier to use with a mouse over the touchpad of the Chromebook.

We are also grateful to be able to clean our Chromebooks every quarter. The wipes have been extremely helpful in keeping our classroom clean.

Our students love haveing a place to store their books. The new shelving system is perfect. Out students feel responsible and organized.”

  • Graphic Novels for the Classroom

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Our students were so excited to receive these new books. As I teacher, I listen to my students about what type of books they are wanting in the classroom. I then go to work and find these books for them. It is important for students to read in and out of the classroom. Obtaining books of their interests help drive a student's desire to read. Graphic novels are also a great way to build students' vocabulary. Graphic novels are also very beneficial for struggling readers and help the content of the book become more available to those struggling readers. Your support of our students and our classroom is greatly appreciated by our students and me. We feel like our learning is better because of your support for our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

  • 3D Printing and Art

    Funded Oct 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations! our students have been extremely excited by these new materials. They love having more color choices for their 3D printing and love being able to color on their 3D prints with markers. This project allows students to show their understanding of various materials in an artistic and engineering way. Our students have been working hard on learning the ins and outs of 3D printing and it has been exciting to see this in the classroom. We cannot thank you enough for your contributions to our classroom.”

  • Brick Creator Part 2

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much again for your donation! Because of this, our students are able to have a better understanding of their spelling and vocabulary words. We were also able to add some decoration to our room with the pixel Groot! This small bit shows students how important STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art, math) is to their lives. We were also able to replenish our Awesome Author bags. These are reused every year but unfortunately, become victims to wear and tear. We are so grateful for your generosity!”

  • Student Requested Books

    Funded Mar 17, 2021

These new materials of pixel letters, pixel decorations, and awesome author bags have already impacted our students! The pixel letters have greatly helped us with learning our weekly spelling words. Our students are highly motivated by these letters. In addition to this, our new bags are a great addition to our Awesome Author Project. We are really enjoying our pixel decorations in the classroom. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and our students.”

  • Brick Creator

    Funded Dec 16, 2020

I cannot thank you all enough! Our students loved these blocks! We tied this into original programming of video games using a clip from the Netflix documentary, High Score. In this clip, the inventor of the game Space Invaders discussed his design process and how he transferred that to a pixel grid similar to our blocks. This was a really neat thing for our students to see. They were able to see the design process and how far programming games have come in our world. They loved using the letters for their spelling words also. We saw a lot of our students making crosswords with the letters and their spelling words. We are definitely going to be using our blocks quite a bit!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Warner

  • Diverse Books That Discuss Race and Racism to Promote Acceptance

    Funded Aug 3, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for your commitment to diverse literature such as these books. Our students have been extremely engaged whenever I have been talking about the books that we received through our Donors Choose Diversity Grant. I have students reading some of the books individually and we are also doing classroom read-alouds and having meaningful discussions. It has also been a lot of fun for our class to get to know more about the authors and illustrators of these books. It is so great to see such diverse and talented authors and illustrators. Again, our students are really engaged when I pull a book from the shelf and let them know that it is one of our diversity books.”

I have partnered with some other teachers to do some "Maker" days together. We need more Legos. We just do not have enough. It would be nice to have plenty to talk about communities and then actually build a community. There are many more possibilities with Legos. We truly want to integrate designing something, building that something, and then testing that something. In the past I have used Legos in all facets of math and even some in science with sorting, classifying, and graphing. With this new batch, I plan to use the Legos even more with math in teaching, area, perimeter, spatial recognition, graphing, classifying, fractions, and computation. I would also like to do more with science where students could design a Lego structure and build it. For example: students could design a catapult, build that catapult and test the catapult all while recording data in a spread sheet about it. I would also like to start incorporating Legos into writing instruction. An example would be that students could build a set out of the Legos and then write a story about what they have built.
