  • Go-Go Math Station

    Funded May 13, 2019

We really appreciate your donations toward our math station. This year has been a struggle, finding resources and activities to assist with my students math deficits. This contribution to my class we definitely help in aiding my students to be successful. We are extremely thankful and appreciative for considering our school .”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hampton

  • First Robotics Competition

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

My students really appreciate the donations toward our Robotics team. The FIRST LEGO LEAGUE Robotics students at Roberts are creative, motivated and skilled engineers that are ready to compete at all levels. We are in our first year of robotics at our school. The tablet will add to our robotics team, by allowing us to program robots with specific operations. The software used in the robots varies with every competition and most competitions have more than one programming language available for students to use.

The robotics team is excited about the tablet. The students love how the tablet speeds through software programs and calculate complex operations. This donation is definitely a great contribution to our team and will allow them to further test their knowledge of technology.

Once again, thank you for your donations to our robotics team.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hampton

  • Remediate With A Chromebook

    Funded Feb 11, 2017

The use of technology is growing in education and in the classroom. My students are required to access technology several times each day, from inputting his or her student identification number in order to receive free breakfast and lunch to online testing in order to track their educational development. Technology is everywhere. In my classroom, the Chromebooks are being used to access learning; therefore, incorporating technology with instruction will strengthen their ability to compete academically in the real world.

My students' eyes lit up when I unboxed the Chromebook. They were so excited to receive the new technology, that will be used in class. My students have been able to access education websites to complete standard based assignments. The newly added math station is a new component to my class. I have used is an incentive for my students to work hard.

There are a couple of students that absolutely love the Chromebooks. Other than their parents' cell phone, the students do not have very many opportunities to use electronics at home. When it is their time for the technology station, they quickly go to my large table to be the first to work on their projects with a Chromebook. I'm so proud of them.

Once again, thank you for your support with this project. It has been an asset to my classroom instruction.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Hampton

The students in my class are young and inquisitive. They are culturally diverse and come from different economical backgrounds. My students live in a low socioeconomic area and attend a Title I school, at which over half of the students receive free or reduced priced breakfast and lunch. In my Math 180 class, many of them are identified as struggling learners in mathematics. Despite their struggles, they are always ready to take on new challenges. Every one of my students has the potential to unlock the mathematician in themselves. My middle schoolers enjoy being creative by expressing themselves through hands-on activities and through visual arts. I am impressed with their ability to tackle real life mathematical problems using different types of strategies learned in class.
