Look! My Very Own Book!
Funded Jun 8, 2008Thank you so much for your generous donation. I cannot wait for my students to work on their nonfiction books this upcoming school year!
It will be a time consuming project, but they will learn so much about the hard work that goes into writing, illustrating and completing a book.
The students will definitely take ownership of their work and, in the end, will become better readers and writers.
The nonfiction unit is my favorite because students are filled with interest and motivation when they are learning and writing about their topics. I know that with these books, they will be very excited and work even harder to show all that they have learned.
Thank you again for allowing me to enrich my students' learning experiences”

Hands On - Butterflies and Ants
Funded Aug 29, 2006Thank you so much for your generous donation! I truly appreciate the valuable resources you have provided for my class. I cannot wait for spring to come in order to start my butterflies and ants unit. I know that my students will be thrilled to have live butterflies and ants in the classroom. It will be a great experience for them, as well as for myself.
Since it is best to observe the life cycle of butterflies and the hard working ants in the spring, I will have to wait until then to order my live caterpillars and ants. However, while we wait, we will use the reading materials and puzzles to build our background knowledge. Because I hope to have completed my butterflies and ants unit by May 25, 2007, my students will be sending their thanks and appreciation at that time.
Thank You,
Wendy Castill”
