  • Learning English Part 2

    Funded Mar 11, 2009

Thank you so very much! Your generosity has helped provide my class with a Smart Talk Reader and the complete Smart Talk cards set (Home and Family, School and Community, Animals and People). The Reader has become a great resource for my English Language Learners and has given them many hours of interactive vocabulary learning.

My students love being sent to work with the Reader. They can work independently or with a partner, and do not need teacher supervision. It is amazing watching them become absorbed and entertained in learning vocabulary. They love placing the cards and hearing/repeating the words and sentences. Even though I am not always working with them, I know that the Reader is providing a wonderful learning experience. My new arrival has already learned many classroom, home, and family vocabulary words, and my struggling English Language Learners have also improved their vocabulary.

The cards are such a valuable resource because of the photographs. The photographs show real examples of the words, which is crucial when learning new vocabulary.

Thank you once again for your support in enriching my students' learning experiences.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martinez

  • Learning about the Rainforest

    Funded Mar 27, 2009

Thank you for funding my proposal, "Learning about the Rainforest." I truly appreciate your generosity in helping me provide my students with the books they needed to learn about the rainforest. The books were a wonderful resource for my nonfiction unit, and my students were thrilled that they could use them for their research. It was amazing watching them grow as readers and writers as they researched and wrote about the rainforest and their animals.

At the end of the unit, each student wrote their own nonfiction book about a rainforest animal. These books came out absolutely wonderful. Having the rainforest books in our classroom was great because they had all the information they needed to write their books.

My students enjoyed learning about the rainforest and I hope that their cards can show how much they have learned. The covers depict the rainforest and some have even shared some facts about their animal.

Thank you once again for your support in enriching my students' learning experiences.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martinez

Thank you for your generous donation. I truly appreciate your help in providing my students with the books they need in order to continue to grow as readers.

I am excited to see their faces when we receive the books. They will be thrilled to visit our library and choose those books during reading. It will definitely help motivate them and encourage them to read more.

Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to enrich my students' learning experiences”

  • Math Is Fun!

    Funded Jan 28, 2009

Thank you for your generous donation to my proposal, "Math is Fun." I truly appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness. The math materials have become valuable resources for my instruction and students' learning.

The magnetic pattern blocks and pattern blocks templates have encouraged my students to learn their shapes and make different patterns. The magnetic coins have helped me work with students that have been having difficulty counting money. The overhead transparencies and 3D shapes are great tools when learning about the shapes.

Overall, my students love when I use these materials and they, in turn, love using them themselves. Thank you so much for your support and for proving me with the tools to enrich my students' learning experiences.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martinez

  • Maps

    Funded Dec 5, 2008

Thank you for your generous donation. I truly appreciate your support in helping me provide my students with maps that will enrich their learning experiences.

I can't wait to use the maps with my students. I know they will enjoy using them and will learn so much more about the United States and the World.

The maps will definitely provide a more hands on approach to learning about the location of places because my students will be able to search for the location instead of having me point it out to them on our globe.

I am excited to see the looks of my students when they use their maps”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martinez

I am a first grade teacher at a school in New York. One of my favorite units of study is nonfiction because of the great amount of learning that occurs. My students' sense of accomplishment after they complete and publish their book is amazing. They work diligently to learn about their topics and use their knowledge, and writing skills, to create their own nonfiction book. My students love to explore new topics and ask many questions, and their excitement during the nonfiction unit is exhilarating.
