  • Basic School Supplies

    Funded Sep 28, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity! My students and I truly appreciate your support. The notebooks, folders, whiteboards, nameplates, and nameplate sleeves are essentials in our classroom.

The notebooks and whiteboards are used daily during math. The whiteboards help my students show their work and allow them to explain their thinking. The notebooks help them keep track of what they are learning.

The nameplates and nameplate sleeves allow various learning resources to by displayed on their tables. This provides them with easy access to a 100 and addition chart, shapes and colors aides, number line, and ruler.

The folders have really helped us organize our papers in science, social studies, reading, and writing.

Again, thank you for your donation. It has really helped my students be prepared and organized.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martinez

  • Ready to Learn With Seat Sacks and Nameplates

    Funded Feb 3, 2024

Thank you so much for providing my students with the much needed nameplates, nameplate sleeves, and seat sacks.

The seat sacks have helped my students keep their supplies organized behind their seats. In their seat sacks they are able to store their folders, reading books, and whiteboards. These are supplies that are used throughout the day and having them in their seat sacks is truly a time saver.

The nameplates have important resources that my students use throughout the day. The nameplates have the 100 grid, number line, shapes, addition chart and alphabet chart. the nameplates have many uses, for example, my students use the alphabet chart when they are writing/spelling and the number line or grid when they are adding or subtracting. The nameplate sleeves are a must have because they keep the nameplates safe from wear and tear and they can be used all year long.

Thank you once again for helping me provide my students with the resources they need to be successful.”

  • Maps Skills Are Important!

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. The Maps Skills for Today workbooks are a great resource for my students to learn about maps. The books are kid friendly, easy to follow, and really help with teaching map skills.

My students are very excited about learning about maps and were so happy to have their own book. Although, at this time, we have not completed the workbook, I know that by the end, my students will have a better understanding of maps and of their place in the world.

Once again, thank you for your support.”

  • What's New Today?

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation! The Scholastic News and Science

Spin magazines have been wonderful resources for our classroom.

My students love starting their day reading one of the magazines. They love that they get to learn about different topics such as, being a good citizen, pumpkins, nocturnal animals, and trees. It has helped them build their content knowledge on a variety of topics and has encouraged them to ask questions to learn more.

I love that the magazines are in digital form. This provides students the opportunity to access the information through the read aloud option and they can continue to explore at home.

Again, thank you so much for providing my students with a fun and engaging resource that will allow them to learn so much about the world around them.”

  • Learning with LEGO

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you, thank you, and thank you! My students and I have truly enjoyed building and learning through LEGOs. The LEGO sets have taught my students the importance of being patient with themselves. Students sometimes rush, make mistakes, or can't figure things out and this is upsetting to them. However, by going through the LEGO building process, they have seen that good work takes time and mistakes can be corrected.

My students were so excited to choose their own LEGO set and have been working hard, following the instructions, to complete their build. For many, this was their first time building with LEGO and they were thrilled to have the opportunity. It definitely has been a great learning task that allows them to follow instructions, focus, and develop their fine motor skills.

Once the LEGO sets are built, the students' next step is writing. They will be writing a fictional story based on their set. They are excited and motivated to get their stories down on paper. Writing has been a struggle this year but, they all seem very eager to get started. I cannot wait to read their finished stories. I know the creativity of using the LEGO sets will encourage them to take risks when writing their stories.

Thank you for making this possible! My students and I truly appreciate it!”

  • Water and Warmth - Important Necessities

    Funded Dec 6, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation! The hats, gloves, lunch boxes, and water bottles have made a huge impact on my students.

The hats and gloves were great in keeping many of my students warm during the winter. Many of them did not have gloves or hats and they were very happy to receive them. I loved seeing the smiles on their faces when they got to choose their own glove and/or hat.

The lunch boxes helped the students that did not have their own. This help them store their lunch and snack safely.

My students absolutely loved the water bottles. I was able to personalize them with their names and this has helped them make sure they have enough water throughout the day.

These resources have definitely helped provide my students, especially those that could not afford, a sense of pride and joy. I truly appreciate your support in helping me care for my students' needs.”

  • Using Tempera and Modeling Clay to Create

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your generosity and support helped my endangered animals reading and writing unit come to life. My students learned about endangered animals, wrote an informational book about their animal, and, with the clay and paint, were able to create their animal and habitat.

The animals they learned about were macaws, penguins, gorillas, tigers, and elephants. They read books, took notes, and wrote their own books. Then, they used the clay to create their animal models and built habitats. The habitats were painted with the tempera paint sticks. I absolutely loved how easy it was to use the tempera sticks and cannot wait to use them in other art activities throughout the year.

The photographs show some of my students' animals and habitats, as well as, some samples of their writing. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!”

  • Books for Every Reader

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project "Books for Every Reader." These books and journals have helped provide my students with books on their levels and reading and writing activities to promote comprehension. The book bins have helped in classroom organization.

The guided reading leveled A and B books are a great addition to our classroom library. Students really enjoy having various books to choose from and this allows them to practice their reading skills and improve in reading. The guided science books have been a wonderful resource during our nonfiction unit. Students have been able to read these science books, on their reading level, and learn about the different topics.

The Reading Comprehension Journal is a resource that we are beginning to use. My students have grown as readers and writers and the journal is a great way for them to show their reading comprehension.

Once again, thank you for supporting my classroom. It is truly appreciated.”

I am a first grade teacher at a school in New York. One of my favorite units of study is nonfiction because of the great amount of learning that occurs. My students' sense of accomplishment after they complete and publish their book is amazing. They work diligently to learn about their topics and use their knowledge, and writing skills, to create their own nonfiction book. My students love to explore new topics and ask many questions, and their excitement during the nonfiction unit is exhilarating.
